Would it be legal to make a socket bayonet for a post ban semi-auto?

The law says bayonet lugs, right?
It doesn't say anything about just the bayonet.....
Maybe a Mosin-Nagant socket bayonet could be made to work and to lock on the FSB.
But what about legality?

I think a crafty engineer could design a bayonet with a socket that could snap onto the front site of most rifles. It might not be the best way to hold a bayonet to a gun, but I think it would work.

And I would think it would be legal to do it, since you are not adding a banned feature to the gun. Of course, the BATF might not see it that way.

That would only serve to turn the front sight and/or the front sight post into the bayonet lug. :banghead: Postban is just that, deal with it.
