An open letter to our elected representatives in state and federal offices.

Your oath when entering office:
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

All I ask is that you live up to that oath.

Sincerely

xxxxxx

Letters should be specific and explicit and this one is too philosophical for an elected official to act on.

I tend to agree. I like the sentiment in the letter, but keep in mind that interns often open the mail. You don't want them to have to guess what pile to put your letter in ( for or against). Best to be short and explicit. Use bill or act numbers and say "support" and "oppose". Remove all guess work.
