I've been waiting for this exact product for years:

http://www.opticsplanet.net/bushnell-10x42-fusion-1600-arc-laser-rangefinder-binocular.html

Bushnell 10x42 Fusion 1600 ARC Laser Rangefinder Binocular melds the best of Bushnell binoculars with world-leading laser rangefinding capabilities. And this Bushnell Rangefinder is no larger or heavier than a pair of 10x 42mm binoculars. Every detail is magnified with rich contrast and stunning clarity from edge to edge using premium fully multi-coated optics and BaK-4 prisms. At the push of a button, this range finder by Bushnell displays exact distance to your target from 10 to 1,600 yards. Built-in ARC Bow and Rifle Modes deliver the "shoots-like" horizontal distance, plus bullet-drop and holdover information. With new Vivid Display Technology, RainGuard HD antifog coating and a fully waterproof design to ensure reliability and clarity in all conditions. It's the best of all worlds Bushnell, in your hands and at your command.

Vivid Display Technology (VDT) - created specifically for the Fusion 1600 by Bushnell, this optical enhancement dramatically improves contrast, clarity and light transmission, while increasing the brightness of digital readout information for rapid, positive identification in all lighting conditions.

Thank goodness for innovators like Bushnell. I'm gonna have to liquidate some guns to get it, but it will be worth it.

Wow, no one else thinks this to be ground breaking and flat out awesome?

Finally, a *high-quality*, *reasonably-sized* bino with a built-in LRF, with ARC correction, with both bow and rifle modes, all under $1K! Good good stuff, Maynard. I just wish it was 7 power, not 10. But 10 is ok, too.

I was planning to get the highest end Zen-Ray bino (and still may), after reading about them. But they will have to go on the back burner, along with most gun projects, for this bad boy, if it's as good optically as they are touting it to be.

I have had many Bushnell products that "high quality" didn't come to mind when it came to optics. You can bet that the better part of your $1k is going to gizmos and not glass.

I think this one from Burris would be a better gizmo <$800

A 4-12 X scope, range finder and it calculates your trajectory and illuminates your holdover (zero). If they can get it to work without batteries and buttons I'm in. Oh wait, I already have one but it's called a Shepard.

You obviously haven't had any of their Elite lines of products (scopes, binos).

You can bet that the better part of your $1k is going to gizmos and not glass.

How can you say that without looking, in light of the fact that their Elite stuff is very high quality? You just don't know - they claim that this one is good glass - neither one of use knows for sure at this point. It uses Bak-4 prisms, not bak-7, on and on. You are probably incorrect in your assumption about glass & coating quality.

Better how? (a) It's huge and unattractive, (b) it works with exactly ONE rifle, whereas the Bushnell gizmo works with 20, 30, or 100 rifles, depending upon how many you got, so in my case it's at least 20 times better of a value - not to mention that the Burris gizmo limits your rifle's glass to just one quality type, and just one magnfic. choice, not to mention that now your LRF has to be built to stand up to recoil, unlike a bino/LRF combo, and I don't trust Burris to do that frankly, (c) You don't point your rifle and use it as a bino unless it's something your'e willing to kill or destroy, so that gizmo cannot even serve the purpose of a bino, and (d) that gizmo doesn't have the extremely useful feature of arc correction, I don't think, does it?

So the way I see it, the Bushnell thing is several dozens of times more useful of a product. It works with ALL rifles, not just one. It also works as a golfing buddy, or anytime you're outside without a rifle and want to look a long ways, and possibly get a range on something.

YMMV. :)

I'm interested, but at work. I am looking for something with a variable power though. Also, can it do 6.5 Grendel flight-paths?

I'm saving for a Barrett BORS. Less than $3k.

Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14x50 LR/T M1 with Mil Dot scope is included.
Barrett Optical Ranging System (BORS)

• Measures air temperature, barometric pressure, and bore line angle
• Calculates a ballistic solution for a specific user-selected cartridge
• Eliminates the need for "counting clicks", calculating mil dots as target ranges change, or using a handheld computer
• Allows the shooter to focus on environmental conditions, assess the tactical situation, and quickly engage multiple targets at varying ranges
• Takes the mystery out of bullet drop

Hey, you had 3 unanswered posts looking for a comment, so I did.

I might be incorrect but the 5 bushnell optics that I still have don't stand a chance against my Leupold and Zeiss optics. The best one is my 1-4X scope but then again you could just knock the glass out and have a perfect 1X.

This was a gizmo thread John, the BORS is the real deal.

Looks very interesting to me. But I'm a functional kind of guy and not an equipment snob. Looks like it could be a good value and a way to reduce the amount of equipment one carries in the field (usually a good thing).
