Looking for some WST powder loads for 45 acp under Berrys 230 grain rn bullets. New to 45 acp.
Thank You
4.9 under them in my 1955 Target shot very well.5.1 WST under 185 berrys HBRN very good load. Exceptionally accurate in dan Wesson 1911 low recoil.
A universal affliction.naturally I got excited and pulled the last one.
Loaded to 1.250", Acme coated 230 Gr 4.3 Gr WST goes ~750 fps out of my Dan Wesson 5" barrel.I have always used either lead round nose data or stay at/close to FMJ round nose starting (minimum) load when using Berry's or Rainier plated bullets. Berry's recommends using lead round nose data or starting loads for FMJ for their plated bullets. I use Hodgdon Universal but Hodgdon does list both LRN and FMJ loads for WST.
From the Hodgdon website:
230 Gr LRN WST - 4.0 Gr start and 4.3 Gr max
230 Gr Hornady FMJ WST - 4.1 Gr start and 4.9 Gr max
They list OAL of 1.200" for both. You can verify by going to Hodgdon's website.
I normally run my 45 with Rainier plated RN at 1.225" OAL in my 1911 pistols.
Thanks4.5 WST with Winchester large pistol primer, Berry 230 RN, COL 1.260 worked nicely for me. Very clean burning.
