I finally got my new Springfield XD9 subcompact to the range this weekend. (along with my brand new HK USP and Browning Hi Power, but those are another story).

The little XD 9 is amazingly shootable, and very accurate. The trigger pull to me was smoother than the Glock 26.

Once in awhile the slide did not lock open on the last round, but that was the only glitch.

I had this same problem when I got my XDSC. Turned out that my usual hold placed my thumb lightly on the slide release- doesn't take much pressure at all on that to keep the slide from locking back. Once I adjusted my grip, I never had a problem again.

I love my XD.

I will check that the next time I take her out to fire a few rounds.
Thanks for the info.

Glad to hear it. I have the XD sub compact, service and tactical all in .40 and the sub compact is my favorite. I have never had the slide problem you described, but misANTHrope's explanation makes sense. I've got well over 5k rounds through all of my XDs with no real problems to speak of. Great shooters and reliable too.

congrats on being another satisfied xd owner. I have the 4" service model in .40 with od green frame and it is awesome i am up to almost 1300 rds in just a month or two. Though I have never had any problems what so ever out of it. I haven't experienced the slide not staying open either. The wife is wanting the xd9 sub compact, I think that would be a good x-mas present!:p
