Was at one of the local shops and saw a Yankee Hill Phantom 5.56 suppressor on sale. Does anyone have any experience with this design and what are the thoughts on it. It was on sale from 399 to 299. I am considering it for a first suppressor for both rimfire and 5.56.

Not advisable unless the can disassembles. Typically centerfire rifle cans are sealed.

Rimfire is much dirtier and you want to be able to disassemble for cleaning, centerfire can rarely need such cleaning.

The YHM Phantom is a monocore. A loud one. If you're finding a deal on YHM products, look at the Turbo instead.

As Tom said, not a good idea to put .22 LR through a sealed can. Filthy, lots of lead build up. .22 WMR or .17 HMR are OK, though, use jacketed bullets and behave like small centerfires.

Do you know if this is a sealed can? I haven't had a chance to handle it a my LGS yet.

If you're looking specifically for a can that that can be used on both rimfire and 5.56 (actually up to 22-250) the Griffin Optimus Micro seems to be a pretty good option. If you're looking for a 5.56 can I'd agree with @MachIVshooter , YHMs more recently released Turbo would be a much better buy than their older cans, with Hansohn Bro's Sniper's Hide pricing and 10% discount until the 25th, you could pick up a turbo for $292 shipped... Hard to beat.
