Your chosen 'MinuteMan' rifle....

The 1903-A3 Springfield, because when one is all alone and without supporting arms and indirect fire support, distance, accuracy & power is your friend. The 03-A3 is backed-up by a S&W 686+ Mtn Gun.
I belive Col.Cooper was right in saying 99% of the problems a solitary rifleman will face is adeptly handled by a good robust bolt-action backed-up by a powerful handgun for close range/multiple tgt engagement out to 35yds or so.

That's my line of thought too. So my minuteman rifle would be either my Marlin 336W or my Enfield .303.

my situation is grab dads truck throw everything in it hitch up the 5th wheel and shoot anything that moves find a place where no ones at and relax all can be done in (as far as load up) in 15-20 min max

shoot anything that moves
I think your screen name described your motivation behind that comment. The title of the thread is MINUTE MAN rifle, not zombie rifle. Minute men were militia, a.k.a. defenders of the nation who wouldn't shoot other people because they were moving.

pgeleven~ MK 19 is a belt fed fotay mic mic thrower, not a Ma Deuce fitee. Though it would prevail in alot of sit reps y'all are workin' upto disasters. Me I prefer to engage at a distance like the M998 affords one to do. I would probably back it up with a FN-p90.

One gun, SKS.

If there is time/space (etc) to carry more, the Mini 14, then the MN 44.

There are so many rifles in this country which use either .223 or x39 and all of these guns are known to be reliable and durable. If a barter system (in "Bartertown") developed, these two common calibers might be an advantage.
Why have "all of your eggs in one basket"?

My Mosins are my most effective battle rifles at the moment, with plenty of 60's Hungarian to feed them with. I've got a belt pack with stripper clips ready to go even now. The only question is 91/30 or M44. Hey, if they're good enough for the Ruskies to defend against "Ze Germans", I see no reason to think they're not good enough to defend our country.

The idea of being a Minute Man is to be ready to bring what you got. :D

Mini-14. Reliable as the day is long, and accurate enough. That, and I own one and some 20 round factory mags.

Now, if I had an SKS... ;)

My first choice would be my Remington 870. I have a lot of ammunition.

If I had to take a rifle; My Remington 700 or M44. It's a hard choice because the 700 is scoped, while the M44 isn't. The M44 also is much shorter and has a bayonet

I plum forgot my 870 "boom stick"!
Think "head shoot" as the opposition may well be wearing body armor...
Of course thumping 'em with a 12g will still put 'em out of action for a bit....

Ha, body armor doesn't have anything on slugs. :)

Depends on the mission requirements.

General usage, M-4 or similar carbine.

Something small and concealable: Krinkov with a wire folding stock, and red dot, et al. Or MP-5 PDW with side folding stock.

Need something to reach out farther: Knight's M110

Other guns used depending on availability of ammo, availability of firearm and parts, and mission requirements.

An old single shot .22 can always be used to take a BG's weapon away and thus acquire a better weapon.
