ok guys I am trying to get a savage axis to shoot under an inch more often than not so can somebody recommend a accuracy load please thanks

My buddy uses Varget, cci LRP and 50gr V max loaded to factory OAL. shoots under an inch for him. Im not sure of the charge but as usual start low and go up.

If I recall correctly, it's 36 gr of Varget and a 55 gr VMax. I worked up a load 20 years ago and never needed to look elsewhere.

I use 53 gr vmax and CFE 223. Use Hornady data. Hogdon was too hot in summer. My other standby is 53 gr vmax and IMR4064.
My Axis runs 3990 with CFE and 3780 with 4064. Be sure to work up slowly.

There's nothing innovative about my favorite 22-250 load (which I got off a bottle of H-380 by the way) but it easily goes 3 in under an inch at 100 yards from either of our two 22-250 rifles. It's 38.0grs of H-380 under a 52gr Hdy BTSP.
I don't know what kind of velocity the load yields, but it's spectacular on ground squirrels, and it works great on rockchucks and coyotes. One afternoon I even watched through binoculars as my wife used it to vaporize a vole (field mouse) out in our pasture - about 80 yards from our rear deck.:D

WW .22-250 brass
Fed-210 primer
39.0g H380
55gr Sierra Varminter, flat base HP, or BTHP @2.350"

Shoots 0.4's from my M700 ADL. 5-shots! Frequently 5 in one ragged hole.

38.0gr H380 under 63gr SMP is my deer load. Also. In .5's.

And another question that has been asked and answered a hundred times. OP merely needs to do a Search here to get answers.
Powder and bullet manufactorers bring out new products. In turn people's favorite combo's change. For years mine was a 55 fb over 4064, then a 53 vmax over 4064, now CFE and a 53vmax.

My Remington model 700 ADL loves this load which happened to be the second load I ever tried.

Bullet is a 55 grain Sierra Spitzer -1360 flat base
Powder is 33.5 grains IMR-3031
Primer Federal 210 Large Rifle
With Cartridge OAL at max length 2.350” (later found that rifle liked 2.445”OAL better , after I soot tested Bullet to lands as stated in Lyman 46th section V Reloading for Accuracy by Jim Carmichael.)
Over the years I have found that my ADL likes flat base bullets over boat tails and likes the bullet very close to the lands. I’ve shot hundreds of groundhogs with this loading. I have tried many other combinations of bullets , powder, and primers but this load is my rifles all time favorite.

I get good results using CFE 223 and a 52 grain A-max.39 grains of powder= 3900 fps on the chronograph, and that's not even max.My old Remington 788 puts 5 into less than an inch at 100 easily.A-Max bullets aren't really hunting bullets, but the crows and groundhogs seem to go to pieces over it.H380 is also a good powder for the 22-250 as is Varget. It's really not a hard cartridge to get a good load worked up for.Be mindful of the twist rate of your rifle when choosing bullets. Most of the older ones were 1 in 14,but some of the newer rifles come with faster twists.A one in 14 will not give good results if you go over 60 grain bullets, unless you use short, blunt bullets.

Just a little trivia for those not aware.
That load, which Bruce Hodgdon developed for the 22 Varminter, explains why he named the powder H-380 - add a period after the 8.
