Hey Jim March, that knife handle has grooves for 5 fingers (not counting a thumb) is it for aliens or what? :p

Lately I've been carrying this big honkin full-sized Gerber Applegate-Fairbairn combat folder. Gutted a deer with it in November (not my deer), and keep it double-edged for self-defense.

Here is what I have on me tonight...

The folder is one of 48 I bought CHEAP from QVC. I gave some away as gifts and well, if I break one of these I just grab a new one. To tell you the truth for a $2.00 Chinese knife it is pretty good. I have a few in each car, the tool boxes, etc.

The other needs no introduction...
Except that it is 25 or 26 years old... It actually has replacement grips on it as I chipped the original and sent it back to Victorinox and they repaired it for free.

Always a Endura, and with the combo blade.
Cleaned 4 deer with it this year, first one was because I forgot my gut hook - after that I was very happy with it. Still , I will use the correct tool next year. phfft.....
It has scraped sealant from aircraft panels ( don't tell the inspector ) and trout in Colorado.
Even opened a few beer bottles.

I've been using a couple of Opinels I had sanded off the lousy finish and sanded and reshaped the handles a bit, then refinished in Minwax Golden oak with a Helmsman Spar Urathane sealer. Joint lubed with mineral oil.

I've got them to where I can drop them in a glass of water for 20 minutes and still open them just fine.

I used to carry a leatherman PSTII. Then I switched to a promo knife the NRA-ILA sent me a long while back. Nice little lock back with about a 3" blade.

Then last year a friend who owns a Harley dealership gave me a little folder commemorating their 95th anniversary. I liked it so I carry that now.

At one time I also had a 2 bladed folder non-locking but I switched it out for the leatherman.

Perhaps not in my pocket all the time ( I think most of us here have several "favorites" in our collections! I earlier had mentioned my Barlow and Gerber mini-covert), but a Douk-Douk hangs out in my truck glovebox and another in my tool belt. Good beater non-lockers, and too ugly for anyone to want to steal! The steel's not stainless, takes a good edge with little effort, and keeps an edge pretty darned well.

Colombia River Lake Sentinel. Got one from Smokey Mountain Knife Works during the last 20% off sale, MSRP is $70, I picked mine up for just over $20. It has a heck of a sharp blade. Thick steel too.

I carry a Benchmade Model 530 Pardue. Great knife, keeps a sharp edge, and looks slick.

Cyber tool 41 on my belt, and a Gerber folder in my pocket. Need to find a decent straight blade to add as well.
