My wife got me one of those white FRN Endura 4s about a dozen years ago. Still locks up tight and stays sharp. The old VG10 was a fine super steel of its day to be sure.

My current pretty knife is a large Chris Reeve Inkosi that is starting to get some honest pocket wear. Love this knife.
The more I look at Reeve's knives the more I like them. I may have a Sebenza in my future at some point.

Since form always follows function: any Swiss Army Knife. Close second: Several of the W.R. Case and Sons knives (which actually are somewhat visually appealing).
SAKs are remarkably pretty to me. Most especially, a WELL used aluminum version.

Mine was borrowed and not returned many years ago - pity.

Todd.

It's really weird. I have collected knives for nearly 35 years. Never did I think I would get to the point that i would spend $450 on a folder. I mean, what could be worth $450, right?

They are worth the price they command. The attention to detail, the action, the lock up, the glass-break sound of the detent snapping the blade closed, and then customer service. All first rate.

I have spent thousands of dollars on Zero Tolerance knives, because I figured that premium steel and titanium were premium steel and titanium and a $200 difference is a $200 difference. Same thing, right? I like my ZTs. Fantastic value for the materials, but my Inkosi blows them out of the water.

I often wondered how people could say they carried a Sebenza for 20 years. Now I know. I dont think I could go back to anything less. I dont think I'll buy another folder until the Sebenza 31s that are replacing the 21s start making their way to market. By the way, the ceramic ball lock up is EXCELLENT.

The weirdest thing about a CRK is that it's a $450 knife you will actually use. I dont thrash mine, but there are days when it's the only knife in my pocket, and it gets a workout. I have a drawer full of ZTs that haven't seen half the use that the Inkosi has seen in three months of ownership.

Also like looking at these two, one is the Spyderco rock salt, the other is the Schempp Rock.

They're basically the same knife, the grind on the edge is the only way to tell them apart.

That sounds more or less like the conclusion I've been coming to in regards to guns and knives both. All my knives in the past have been super cheap tools that need sharpening every few weeks. So the ZT's I've been buying now are exhibiting REAL value over the old beaters I had. I do believe their is a point of diminishing return with knives, but I don't know at what price point it is, and it certainly will change from maker to maker.

My primary carry gun cost $800 or so, and the reality is I could spend half that, and have a fully functional carry gun. I am now viewing knives the same way. If it's a good tool that lasts, then I'm not that concerned about the price. Same as my guns, if I can't carry a knife and use it, I don't really care to own it. The CRKs look very functional, and the price doesn't scare me off.

I also like variety when it comes to knives, so having several good quality ones is appealing to me. But I don't see myself having every ZT out there. I don't need that many.

There's a forum member here who has a fixed blade that every time he posts it, I'm in awe of it. Hopefully he sees this thread and posts a pic.

I have no custom knives anymore (the Randall was stolen years ago and never replaced, alas); my tastes now are pretty conventional, but I like nice lines (the Sinkevich-designed ZTs flow for me). My favorite production knives as far as looks are the ZT-0452CF, my trusty ol' Kabar, a Hazen Legion that I picked up and of course, the sentimental favorite, Buck 110.

I remember the forum member.

@Gordon if I recall right, you have an awesome fixed bladed knife that you've posted pictures of before. If possible, please post it again here.

My "best knife" : I commisioned this 13" W4 blade with Damascus fittings and stabilized Amboyna Burl handle from Stephan Fowler who used it for his Master testing . I won't be selling it. Surprisingly I sold a lot of my Mad Dog Knife collection to Chinese collectors for huge sums ! Kevin talked me into having Stephan make the handle on his blade asymmetrical , and I am glad he did !

Stunning!

Proving that "beauty" is in the eye of the beholder : I sold this prototype Saxon Sword , by Kevin "Mad Dog" McClung at the end of 2018 for $11,500 to a Chinese collector ! It was not even signed by Kevin but had a letter of Provence that was made ten years befor when kevin spruced it up for the prior owner. It had been used in many demos ect. with virtually no damage and just needed detail polishing . It was made in 1998 . It has a 19" blade of 1/4" steel is single edged and sometimes the first concept is perfect :) I went thru forms (kata) with it but it set in my safe and was in 98% condition. It would cut a goat carcass in half with ne blow , on demend ! I wasn't "pretty" tho
