Does anyone else think that the CNN/Youtube debates are a good forum for THR members to get involved in the political discourse? Seems to me that we could flood the debate with questions that we want answered...and who knows, CNN might actually choose good ones!

What do you think?

Well, here's the thing: In selecting the clips, CNN excercised editorial control over what questions where asked, and HOW, fundamentally framing the terms of the debate.

We saw how that worked out.

That's a stacked deck right there, and grandpappy always used to say, "never play against a stacked deck, unless you stacked it."

If CNN received a massive amount of Pro RKBA videos, could they afford to ignore them?

Yes they would just love to take the most stupid radical gun remarks and use them. They have done this for years. CNN loves to make the NRA look like the KKK.

I saw on the news that there was some debate over the 2nd Amendment as (Dems I think) politicians answered some questions that 2nd Amendment advocates asked on You Tube. One of them was about "assault rifles" and the guy doing the video was asking about possible renewal on the AWB. While he was holding his AR-15 in front of the camera he said "this is my baby and I just want to know what you think about assault weapons and.....".

The video was then stopped at that point even though it was obvious that the guy doing the video hadn't gotten the rest of the question out for them to answer. One of the politicians then made the crack that "If that's his baby, then he's got problems" with a roll of his eyes.

Certainly tells you where that guy's head is at huh?

People that make cracks like that don't need my vote.

I wish that I could remember the politicians name, I'll try to find out.

Okay, thanks Watson.

Sen. Joe Biden.

I had a different name for him in my mind, but it began with an A and ended in an E.

I wasn't going to vote Democrat anyway and maybe he impressed some soccer mom's with his anti-firearms rights comment by trying to make fun of the guy, so maybe it wasn't a total loss for him since I doubt that he'll get much support from many other gun owners either.

To to the point. I dont think it would get chosen because it dosent offer the candidates any room to worm around the question.

Thing is, it's all about money. The folks running the outfit think that their viewers _expect_ a message, and they tailor their message to what they think their viewers expect...

Anyone remember Cokie Roberts?

She was a national broadcaster who said that the internet was a Bad Thing, because the media should be the gatekeepers of news. Well, the internet's still around...

If enough people send, they notice... and they alter their programming.

Oh, I forgot to mention...if you feel like voting...

got to www.communitycounts.us search for "Superpsy1" and vote for my video. This will give it more visibility if you wish it...so far I'm at -1 so it's not looking good. :)

I'll try to put up a few more questions related to 2A issues later today or tomorrow. The debate is more than a month away so I have some time...

Watson-

Your video is excellent.

-Your camera is on a tripod (or other solid surface. Not handheld.)
- You have plenty of light, so the viewer can see your face, as well as the room you're sitting in.
- You're dressed in a presentable manner. You don't look like a slob.
- You speak clearly and coherently.

thanks...I did my best not to look like a slob. :) Took the video after I got off from work. It's amazing how little time it took actually (after a couple takes).

I dont like the term assault weapons ban, maybe give a quick point of how it was a total failure.

Maybe a question asking them to tell us what the second amendment means to them.

Debates

We are pounding the RKBA message and that is good.
BUT we should be pounding on their stance of criminal control instead of gun control.
