Yugo 24/47?

I got one of these the other day at Big 5 as well, and have a few questions about this one too.

Is this just a copy of the german mauser 98, or is there other differences? I plan on leaving it stock (other than a bayonet and sling), but it'd be nice to find out what parts interchange with other mausers.

When were they made?

Were they used in any wars?

I found a bayonet for it at numrich, but will other mauser bayonets fit this?

I'm going to eventually reload for this, but what kind of accuracy is this capable of with surplus ammo?

How does the 24/47 compare to other mausers, as far as accuracy and build quality goes?

My Yugo

...is one of the most accurate rifles I have with iron sights. It likes the 190 gr stuff.

IIRC, at least some of the 24/47s were built up from former vz24s.

I don't know about your specific rifle, but the 24/47 I had would do just fine with 196gr Yugo surplus all day long. Only trick was getting a cheek weld on the stock that didn't beat the heck out of my cheek bone.

The 24/47s are good rifles for the price. My son & I each have one.
They were re-arsenaled from Yugo & FN model 24's. 1/4" shorter action than 98's & bolts won't swap.
Czech VZ24's were also refurbed & designated 24/52C & have a standard length action as the 98's.

BTW, my daughter lived in Coos Bay for years. She & family moved inland to Prineville last year.
