I beleive the lesson learned here is to not lie to a judge during a bail hearing for a murder charge. This is really inexcusable and is a very dumb thing to do.

I feel the attorney is partly to blame here. Zimmerman sat in jail for a long time and during that time information about at least two or more legal defense funds was widely discussed in the press. His attorney should have known about these and he should have prepared his client for these questions from the judge.

Zimmerman's father, who also participated in the bail hearing, should have advised his son and his son's attorney about these types of questions which were surely going to be asked.

At this point, the strategy should be to hire a more experienced attorney and seek a trial as soon as possible.

This news was posted on the existing thread at http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=650186 last night not long after the story broke. We're keeping that thread updated with significant news items, but not open for discussion at this time until there are facts available allowing us to further the discussion in a way that is useful for ST&T. We will contain further discussion to that thread, once there are useful facts for us to discuss. There's no need to open a new Zimmerman thread at every whipstitch.

If you become aware of significant news developments in this story that have not been posted, just PM the link(s) to a mod here in ST&T and the existing thread will be updated. We aren't going to begin open discussion on this topic again until we have something solid to discuss relating to Strategies, Tactics or Training. Since the trial will likely be a while, that might not be soon...
