I see that Norinco makes 1897 replicas, however I'm curious as to whether or not they slam fire like the originals. Anyone ever try this?

No personal experience, but from what I've heard/read from CAS shooters; yes, the Norinco 1897 repro will slam fire like the original.

I have a trenchgun by them but its unfired so can't say for sure on mine but do agree with the above they are supposed to.
BTW $400 includes shipping to lower 48 to FFL dealer.

Yes, they will slam fire. In fact, I've slam fired a Norinco Model 97, as well as some of my original Model 97's. It's not the best way to treat them, though.

Hope this helps.

The Norinco WILL slamfire. I have 2. It is a direct copy of the Winchester 1897 which was famous(or infamous) for its slamfiring. In fact some parts will interchange, but I would not advise using a real Winchester with Norinco parts.

Mine are so reliable that I have removed my vintage (1901) 97 from my squad and put in a Norinco, I am not in the least worried about its reliability. Of course I put about 400 rounds downrange before I completely trusted it. The Norinco will handle loads that I would not put through my old 97.
