From the RCBS website........
Overland Park, Kansas? When did that happen? BTW, that is also where Hodgdon HQ is located.
BTW, when you look at the history of many of these companies and brands, they have been passed around and abused more than Miley Cyrus.
First "company" I worked for was founded by one of those unique, special innovatory type guys about 100 years ago. He got it rolling, brought in others, they did well. Company was privately held, which means the employees owned the stock. About 100 of them. That worked well until the day when about 80% of the stock wound up in 5 guys hands. Normal process was when they retired, they would sell their shares to the new guys. A retirement plan of sorts, and a good plan, as new guys were then invested in the company. Had reasons for company to do well and for them to stick around for less money than they could make elsewhere. But back to those 5 guys........and they day when an outside holding company offered them a 150% premium for their stock over what they could sell to younger guys.......and they took it. I remember one of them telling us not to worry, nothing would change. That lasted about a week, when everything began to change. Entire company was gone inside of 5 years.
Never have understood how it makes sense for outsiders to buy something they don't want. Hopefully Hodgdon sees this as a long term asset and prized acquisition. I can see reasons to maintain tradition and keep it in Oroville. But can also see reasons to pack things up and move to a 2A friendly place like Sedalia, MO. That is now home of Sierra Bullet, Starline Brass and US HQ for VV powders, Berger bullets, etc. Plenty of room there for one more.
BTW, have mentioned this before but day I woke up to realize that Vista group had control over 3 of 4 primer companies..........along with Remington ammo, Federal, Alliant powder and Speer bullets.........and the reality that if that ever fell into hands of the wrong sort, there would be no ammo at all........was the day I resumed reloading. Basically becoming my own ammo factory for every shooting iron I have dominion over. Seems silly that one would feel compelled to do that.......but the sight of empty shelves made it go from silly to stupid if you don't.
