A spare reload if needed

This is something else that always kind of bugs me about these kinds of threads. The gun is "always" the, and only answer and if it quits, oh my Todd!, what'll I do, Im done.

Doesnt anyone have any kind of practical hand to hand skills anymore? I might be old and getting decrepit, but I still know where to hit and/or manhandle people, that doesn't take a whole lot of effort, and that empty or disabled gun is an impact weapon in its own right. ;)

RIP Toby Keith, but his one old song is still somewhat relevant too. :)
Well I’m not 35 anymore… and I usually have my wife and Granddaughter with me … so … why take a chance rumbling ?
Maybe with two or more attackers … and Im not planning on shooting someone unless I protecting myself or my loved ones from bodily harm..
I have had plenty of fights, “ back in the day”
Back when you could fist fight with a fellow in the afternoon and shoot pool with them that night… yep .. it’s happened

In today’s world.. it’s different….
I feel if I’m attacked… the attacker.. should know the risk … and the risk is lead poisoning and breaking out in bullet holes…

I don't carry a spare on my person, I'm not typically just out taking a leisurely stroll, I'm usually working or running in and out of a store for things and I have the gun with no spare. I would like to carry a spare and the only time I do is while I'm sitting in church on Sunday. Other than that, I have two spares and at times a stick/extendo mag close by. (Al Pacino, "I got it close by, I just don't have it with me right here").

I honestly think 17 rounds is a pretty good hedge for getting out of trouble and if it isn't, I guess ill.just have to regret it. My pockets are full of other stuff that I actually use every day, wallet, Knife, wire nuts, clipped on tape measure, linemans pliers always unless I'm not working.

However, I always carry a spare when I carry a single stack but when I carry the 19 that mag adds alot of bulk but I plan to troubleshoot it and carry a spare on my person always, regardless of what I'm carrying. The A.L.I.C.E training I just did along with the LEO who coordinates our church safety plan has impressed upon me the importance of the spare and even though I've never had a mag fall apart on me, it is the weakest link in a semi auto and most likely to be the cause of a malfunction so a spare just makes sense to me, not just sometimes, all the time, always.

But honestly, a real man doesn't even carry a magazine in his semi auto, if you can't get it done with a single round in the chamber you don't deserve to carry a gun...... 😉

When I am carrying my shield 9, (8 rounds) I will typically carry a spare if circumstances, clothing, etc. permit. When my carry pistol was a Glock 19, I usually didn't bother but I would have 1 or 2 extra mags maybe in my vehicle. I don't make self defense decisions based on "average" statistics.

When traveling by car on road trips, I’ll carry a couple of speed loaders for my SP101 in this leather belly bag., slung over my shoulder like a hipster’s “man purse” when out of the car.

For deep concealment, I don't carry a reload. I will just have to live with having the 7+1 I have on hand. For my other carry, I am not as determined as I once was to carry a spare. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Full service size firearm with 15+1, light and optic. The spare is 17 round magazine.
