Hey pals. I see there are a number of H&K MP5 clones on the market these days. And the Germanic buzz-gun has always fired my imagination.

Question: what is a good one for a Form 1 SBR project? Any to avoid? Would my Ti Rant 9 be a bad can to run on said or is it good to go?

Thanks!

I have not found a bad review of the Zenith series of MP-5 clones. The are made in Turkey by MKE.
Some have told me to stay away from those made by POF. I dont know about your suppressor, but the Zenith models have 1/2x28 threads.

Like you, I like the MP-5, but I have been eyeing the CZ Skorpion EVO. Prices I have seen for the EVO are around $800. The Zenith models I have seen are in the $1600 range. The Gen1 EVO has metric threads, the newer gen is suppose to have the standard thread pattern. Mags for the EVO are around $25 to $30 each, which was a shock to me. MP-5 mags will prob be twice that. The Zeniths ship in a hard case with 3 mags, sling, and optics mount. All the EVOs I have seen only come with one 20 or 30 round mag.

I've been looking a lot into the Zenith line recently and have been hearing great things. Military Arms Channel on youtube has a video where he went on a factory tour too, pretty interesting.

Thanks for the replies. The feedback I'm seeing online concerning the Turkish guns are decidedly mixed. I just don't know enough about them yet.

No real interest in the EVO right now. Looks like a fun gun, but it wasn't all that long ago that I Form 1ed a vz61, so I got the CZ fix taken care of for the moment. ;)

I've heard something bad about all of the mass produced ones and besides you just can't please everybody.

I bought a used Coharie Arms CA-89 pistol back in 2007 and SBR'd it and it has never given me any problems, although it does have a German bolt carrier ... From what I understand the US made ones are solid and I believe the German made ones have some sort metallic powder in them to prevent bolt bounce. I have a 3-lug adapter for my Octane 45 and it works great.

If you want a perfect one you should probably have one built by Parabellum Arms or one of the other premium builders although you'll pay a premium price for it ... Parabellum built a HK-52 clone for me and it's a work of art and runs perfectly in semi and with my registered sear.

OTOH, I also have a Century C-93 pistol (built with 10" HK-33/53 barrels) the finish is crappy but it also runs perfectly in semi and auto.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you want a one to shoot get one of the $1,600 ones from Atlantic, because if you actually shoot it it won't stay pretty forever ...
