Nice job Walkalong!
No way to get a bucket down there, so the trimming has been done with a shotgun and rifle.
That is of course true, but shooting at a branch in the way from up top at the deck still has a lot of hill in the way on a miss, and even a deflection has lost a lot of energy and is still likely to hit the hill. I used a 9MM carbine. Anything low enough I used the shotgun with bird shot. In my youth I would have just scampered up there and cut them off. I have given up 99% of tree climbing.but don't shoot rifles into the air as a general rule
I left the right side 4x4s high so I could hang a tarp etc off of them to catch/knock down brass. When I was finishing the shelf I laid a plank up across them and it gave me the idea to make a one plank shelf up there as well.build a brass collecting deflection wall
You could fashion mounting points for tarp (with slight slope) for shade/rain cover. Cheap, functional and easily removable. Maybe even eye bolts with bungee cords.Walkalong said:No plans for a roof any time soon.
Yea, it's a great place to just sit.I could sit there all day & never fire a shot .
Well, I was 58 before I was able to acquire a nice "back yard". A year and a half later I finally built the deck.
I also made a target stand for when I want to shoot paper.
Our range is marked , something like this. Plus a heavy wire is run thru the woods at waist level.Boundaries of SDZs must be posted with permanent signs warning
persons of the danger of the live-fire range and prohibiting trespassing.
The signs must be posted in a way that will ensure a person cannot enter
the SDZ without seeing at least one legible sign.
Where's the house it's supposed to be attached to....Well, I was 58 before I was able to acquire a nice "back yard". A year and a half later I finally built the deck.
Anybody mind?"
