The Migration

I know it's a huge task doing a migration of this size.

But after things get settled down making different skins available would be nice. Also going to a san serif font would be nice.

For all us older eyes having problems with reading this font, just hold down the CTRL key and spin your mouse wheel.

Looks good so far for me. Even though I have only read about 2 threads so far. I'll throw some input in once I poke a few more buttons.

Nice look to the new format.........I know there was a lot of hard work....so thanks for taking care of us. Good job.

Text entry box is definitely cleaner than last night.
It's the tiniest bit vague if you've not had to cope with other forum software using white-on-white-on-white formatting.
Now that we're back to a clean black on white for contrast, the readability is better.
Will take some getting used to in not seeing thumbnail info on posters, but, it's not like the info is hidden and unavailable (unless blocked by the user).

I'm going to guess we will need a temporary "stickie" on how quoting has changed. I really like the automatic noting feature on source quotes. Will take some getting used to not being able to "stack" quotes using the "wrap quotes" feature. But, such things are as such things are.

outer again
Having it under 'insert' (smilies, image, media, insert panel) is not obvious...

To be fair, it is a personal problem. One thing we are guaranteed in life is change.

Personal problem, probably also age-related:

It seems like you have fallen into the "pretty colors" and "elegant font"
versus "readability" trap.

Give me contrast !

Is there another skin I can select for readability?

Yeah, I know.... "personal problem..." Readability, readability, readability.

I'm with you, like so many others they've gone to the bubbly phone app looking website that is extremely annoying. We'll give it a few days but I definitely won't be browsing on this configuration like I used to. I think we may be in the minority though.

reporting all weirdness :

I received a notification email, "new reply to watched thread" :

blarby, shinz replied to a thread you are watching at The High Road.

case annealing

I have , as best I can tell, never interacted with this thread other than my initial post ?

I did read the migration notes, and cannot figure how Im getting a notice on this thread, but no others ?

How is hard to quote? Hit reply and there it is.

Okay, so now I've noticed the "Like" button. Did that just come with the new software, or were members actually asking for this?

We've relegated what will eventually be the new THR style to an optional theme. That way I can adjust the theme without it blowing away the readability of the site when I adjust a color setting somewhere that behaves unexpectedly.

There's a bit of a learning curve on this side of the software, too!

It is a feature that that we did not have, but do now.
It is going to have to be a very good post for me to hit the like button.:)

The High Road continues to be one of, if not the best firearms forums. I appreciate hard work by the moderators to keep it on topic and polite.

What I miss in the new format is post counts, which are sometimes an indicator of the reliability of the poster.

Messages is the new term. Click on the avatar (or avatar space) - your count a moment ago is 1817.
I'm sorry but that is nonsense. Sure you can do it, but who is going to. You should be able to view message count and date joined with a glance. Its the best troll protection as well as useful for greeting new members. I also miss the last time visited notice that would show up. Minor points in a pretty seamless migration though.
