Never knew what you’re going to find when cleaning up at my house.
I started doing a little cleaning up in my shop, it’s a little messy.:(

Here’s an old 60mm mortar ammo can with 840 rounds of 1944 Turkish 8mm Mauser

Then another 770 rounds of 8mm Mausers, can’t remember right off the manufacturer.

Then There was this can. I had no clue what was in it, but it was heavy.

Would you believe it’s full of Lakecity 556 brass? All bagged up and labeled by year. I think I have another box of brass somewhere. Better keep cleaning.

Gee Gunny you sure how to bring a guy down!

I Was packing and came across boxes of 9mm ammo in my closet. 450 rounds (50 round boxes). I was surprised as they were with the 12 ga ammo. Since I shoot more pistol than shotgun I was excited even if it was factory.

Anyway all kidding aside I guess we both did good this lucky Friday the 13th!

Friday the 13th has always been a good day for me. I like to go gun shopping but had other thinking to get done.

Has anyone figured out what that orange reloading press is?

Oh! Just found my M&P 45 box and found a surprise when I opened it.:D

I’m not an expert, but based on the color, vintage and the dies I’d guess a Lyman Tru-line Turret press. If not a Tru-line it’s some sort of Turret.

It looks old but nice. I’d say you should set it up and use it, since you have such a shortage of ammo you might want to practice some reloading in case the silly ammo limit bill somehow gets passed and signed into law! (Just kidding and ribbing Gunny for all of you humor challenged people out there).

Dude, think you need a maid :) (Are they still called that? Housekeeper, maybe? I had a wife who left me because I always left my shop looking like that ... well, and the garage ... and the bathroom ... and then there was the socks and underwear on the floor thing ... ). Seriously though, I'm now reformed to the point where I keep records of my ammo and supplies on EXCEL spreadsheets after spending a butt-ton of money on those nice COSTCO steel shelves to keep organized.

I can relate to all of that!
I got rid of the wife almost 40 yrs ago so I now have a 3 bedroom house/attached garage all to myself.
I long ago began to take advantage of all of that space. 1 bedroom is my "gun room", one is a spare bedroom/GI double bunks (piled full of "Stuff"and my desk/computer and the larger is my bedroom (which is also piled full around the edges and the floor of the closet).
Then there is the garage - Piled Over head high with a walkway down the middle which give me access to my gun safes, but not a lot else.
Of course there is also the back patio and yard. The stuff out there would at least fill the garage again + my collection of 4 or 5 vehicles & motorcycles.
The combis' are a ruskie Dnepr and 2 chicoms. All copies of the BMW R71. The 2 black ones will eventually get repainted as Luftwaffe bikes.

Cheap 8mm has long since dried up. Nice find. These days, it's hard to do better than $.50 a round for new steel cased, and then prices get silly from there.

I had to demolish the walk-in shower off my master bedroom bout 10 years ago.....never finished rebuilding it. Fortunately, people got used to using the other shower over the last decade so their was no grumbling when I converted it to an armory.....we also used it as our shelter room when Irma hit.

I tell you what, I had some of that same Turk ammo, same year even. Half of it misfired and 30 rounds of rest was so corrosive, it ruined the finish on my minty Brazilian M98 carbine just in the time it took to drive home! I tried pulling the bullets to save the cases, but the the brass was so brittle it just cracked and shattered! If I was you, I would take that crap and use it for a boat anchor before it hurts another poor rifle.....or person.

Nope. He’s on the other side of the room.
That pic looks like the prop masters hut from "Dunkirk" !

I had a maid for a while, she was a wild one. We did a lot of house cleaning, but the house never go better, but we had a lot of fun.;)

I have a bunch more Turkish ammo. I like shooting it. It’s about the hottest surplus 8 mm ammo you can find.
Now they do have some very hard primers and without a very good firing pin spring, you will get misfires.

I’m not an expert, but based on the color, vintage and the dies I’d guess a Lyman Tru-line Turret press. If not a Tru-line it’s some sort of Turret.

It’s a Lyman Tru-line Junior Turret press. It doesn’t take standard dies. It takes the Lyman Ideal 310 Hand Tool dies.
About 30 or so, could be more, years ago, I stopped at a gun shop that was going out of business. I saw one on display with other presses and it was marked $10. I ask to buy it and the guy went to the back and came back with this one. It was new in the box. I already had the Ideal 310 hand tool with a set of 357/38 dies. So I asked about more dies and ended up leaving the store with the press and dies for 223 and 45 Auto, for a total of $20.
I never used it, may one day.

You probably have everything else you need to reload. If you have the time I’d suggest setting it up and loading some ammo.

It’s relaxing and it’s always fun to say you loaded your own.

My gear is all packed and once I get settled I’ll unpack it. I’m not sure how I’m going to set up the shop but since my Press is bolted to a 2x8 I can always clamp it to the Workmate for now. I will say that as stressful as the last few weeks have been, I really need to do something fun and relaxing besides tease you.

Nahhh teasing you is fun so.....

Come to think of it, maybe you better not get into reloading, I can already see the crates of bullets, stacks of primers and cases of powder! And that’s before the drums of brass!!!!

Seriously though if you have the time maybe it’s a good excuse to clean up some and aetup a reloading bench

Been reloading scene 1984. Started off with the Lyman Ideal 310 Hand Tool.
I have a RCBS Rock Chucker mounted on my reloading bench.
I’m set up to reload about 18 different calibers.
Got to get back to cleaning. I wonder what I will find today.

Gunny why doesn’t that surprise me.
I knocked out a bunch of cleaning today. Found a box of 100 12 ga that wound up in a plastic tub. Somehow a bottle of water got in it too. Yep bottle broke and flooded the tub. So I’m not sure if they’re ok or not.

Anyway I’m glad I don’t have to clean your shop. My garage and basement were bad enough. The good is that I got rid of tons of old boxes of papers, mostly old student papers, and things I finally got to burning. So I now don’t have to move them.

I also found all kinds of fun things! Nothing as cool as a press and dies. But at least I now know where some stuff is.

At least your cleaning has a more "treasure hunt" kind of feeling to it, as in "so that's where that ended up; forgot I even had that".

For me house cleaning means finding mostly dust bunnies, cobwebs, and the occasional loose change.
