I don't know, I have had a couple Franchi's with the nearly the same model numbers, a 612 and 720. They were good guns but I have no idea if they are anything like the CZ guns.
I’m a big fan of CZ rifles and handguns. I have more of them than any other brand. I’m not a fan of CZ shotguns and it has nothing to do with them being made in Turkey. I own a couple of Turkish made shotguns and have been pleased with them.
The CZ 720 I’ve owned and the 712 I’ve shot always went bang. They had the heaviest triggers I’ve ever encountered in a shotgun and the fit and finish was rough compared to similarly priced shotguns.
My choices from first to last in a semi-auto in the same price range would be:
Tie-Mossberg 930 or Weatherby SA-08
3) Tristar
All CZ 712’s use the same receiver, so while I do t have a “712 Utility”, I have a 712. I had to run several (3-4) boxes of 6 shot hunting loads before it would reliably run low brass target loads, but I’ve now shot several thousand flawless rounds since.
I have several friends who followed my lead and bought 712’s, and all love them. We all shoot a few times a month in our American Legion Beer League clay shoots. We are NOT sponsored by the American Legion or our local Post, but we are all friends who met as members of our local Post.
Another friends wife shoots a 720...it shoots great too. And these are guys who treat their shotguns like their $100 lawnmowers...
