When forced to choose a replacement for my pet coyote rifle, I picked a .308 BAR DBM. It's been several months in the making, but other than rechecking zero, I believe its good to go.
The rifle was too long for my short arms so I had to choose a different scope that would mount close enough for proper eye relief and even then had to cut the stock about 1/2" since Browning did not supply a thinner pad for the DBM. Worked up a decent load but had to have an adjustable cheek piece installed to achieve a decent cheek weld. Believe that will further shrink my groups.
Due to Covid raging in our area ever since memorial day, age and health issues, unable to get to the range so decided to spend a couple afternoons putting rattle can camo job on the stock.
Two coats of Krylon flat Camo Khaki base......
Sponge application of Krylon Camo Brown and Olive, followed by three coats of Clear Flat sealer.
I doubt zero has been affected by removal of buttstock; not sure about remove/replace forend?? Hope to be able to get to a range before long to see.
Regards,
hps
