They're scraping the bottom of the milsurp barrel. Remember that there are very few importable surplus firearms left, and they tend to be in terrible condition. The good ones were picked over years ago.
The recent imports are all from Ethiopia (and may have been every police locker turn-in too). They were not stored in the best of conditions. By all reports, they were stacked like firewood in sketchy warehouses for many decades.
Royal Tiger does not invest much effort in cleaning the firearms up. And, their website is completely awful, I have no idea who actually buys off that site.
Royal Tiger had a bunch of Ethiopian M1 Carbines once. I saw some pics of peoples purchases, and they were pretty sad looking. Too bad…some of them were smaller subcontractors like IBM or Rockola complete with early features.
Because “warehouses” of rusted Italian guns in Ethiopia and Eritrea that have had no care since WWII do not excite me or seem like a value for money proposition.
If your worried about poor storage in Abyssinia since the 50’s you would be appalled by the Nepalese Fort cashe. Unfortunately history is where you find it.
I jumped in with both feet during the "Golden Age of C&R", From the start deals were incredible. New East German Makarov's and new CZ 82's with extra magazines and holsters for under $200.00. New in the crate Yugoslavian 59/66 SKS for $120.00, free shipping with five! Excellent Yugoslavian and Czech Mausers for $120 8MM ammunition 5 cents a round. Walther P-38's with holster and extra magazine $220.00. It was insane! It went on for quite a while, but I noticed the quality of the surplus was going down while prices were climbing. Toward the end, 2011 or therabouts I saw nothing I wanted and the "Good" condition advertised was really pushing the term. I would be very wary of any C&R's now.
