Thank you kindly @BullRunBear and @windini

This ol' gal started her life as a 2019 Pietta 1860. She was one of a pair, One day after eyeballing the kirst conversion website for the 509th time I broke down and bought the conversion and ejector rod.

After the addition of the kirst that Pietta became the most accurate handgun I own. I am seriously blown away with the accuracy. The kirst conversion is pretty expensive almost too much, but I like it and I'm glad I bought it.

My usual loading is 38 grains FFFG Goex red label and it's a solid load. Probably pushing anywhere from 925 to 1100 FPS depending on the crimp.

What bullet are you loading with that? Those are impressive numbers with Goex.

So details are necessary. Was it capable of nose to tail penetration? Did it sport a wide meplat and wreck the organs? Just kidding of course. :D

Claus -I live on top of a mountain here in the Appalachian mountains. There have been a good many serpents out summer if 2021 though not nearly as much as 2020.

Rodwha- loading my 253 grain big lube I had old tom chef up down at accurate molds.

I don't know about head to tail penetration because I wait till the old snake coils up and then give him a hot lead sammich' he usually ends up literally blown into a few pieces !

If I see a Rattler' I kill him on sight.

If I see a king snake, I let him live. The king snake hates rattlers and copperheads more then I do and it's one of his favorite meals. You see the ol' king snake is a cannibal and is a damn sight meaner then me ! He's harmless to Humans but he's a copperhead or rattlesnakes worst nightmare

Nice job on the revolver, by why are you shooting so many rattlesnakes??

They do taste good

I’m a bit curious as to your load. What are you putting under that bullet?

@misskitty2 As to the sakes I had a ol boy make em for me off ebay!

i sold the grip set as the snakes were cool but they gave the grip a feel i didnt really care for...

but they were sweet while i had em!

this gun now wears a 5.5" barrel and regular walnut grips. id love to have some stag grips for gun but id probably have to make em as I wouldnt dish out the cash for em.

The skins are easy to cure and make great hatbands and belts too!
When I lived in the desert I would just do a salt cure.
Stretch the skin meat side out on a board, cover it with pickling salt and let dry for a couple days.
Then wash the salt off the skin, taking any leftover flesh with it. Scrape with a dull knife if necessary. Let it dry again.
Soak the skin with Glycerin (get at the drug store). Let it soak in until soft and pliable. Recoat if necessary.
Enjoy!

Dang! That's cool. I've eaten a couple rattlers I shot, they were good.
My pop ate rattlers during training prior to shipping out for the D-day invasion, his buddies from the East were not impressed. In the wisdom peculiar to big green machine he did most of his training at Fort Young at the Desert Training Center and then shipped out to the European theater where they fought through the coldest snowiest winter in years. No rattlesnakes though, gotta look at the bright side.

i like snakes and don,t kill them unless they are around children or pets, this is one i ran into while hunting turkeys. i left it as i found it, alive.

That's my preference as well. I'm in an area that has lots of pack rats, which is a critter you can't kill enough as far as I'm concerned. They cause thousands of dollars in damages every year to cars and houses. Let the snakes eat em!.

I will let non poisonous snakes live. A rat or kingsnake will kill poisonous snakes. A rattlesnake or a water moccasin better steer clear of me.

I've ate bbq rattler. It wasn't too bad but I wont go out of my way to eat any more.

I think rattler is pretty good. Never BBQ'd always fried it in butter. But we don't have an overabundance so I leave them alone. But good emergency/survival food for sure.

Well, they're in a better place. :D

Non-venomous snakes get a pass. Venomous snakes do not. Had a neighbor get hit on his hand by a copperhead. Literally took years to recover and I don't want that to happen to me or my family.
