I just watch the TFB video on top 5 pocket carry guns for 2023.

So I thought lets see what the THR members like to carry!
What are your top 5 carry handguns?
(Pictures are a bonus) I didn't limit this to pocket carry because carry style is a personal choice.

I only have four handgun that I have every bought and carried as "serious" CCW'ed

1) XD-40 Service (4-insh).
2) XD-40 Sub-Compact (3-inch, short grip)
3) S&W 442 Moonclip
4) Remington RM380

I only carried the XD-40 Service for about two years before I bought the Sub-Compact, at the time I was shooting and XD-40 Tactical a lot in USPSA competition. After carrying the Sub Compact for several years I bought the 442 since I had pretty much switch all my competitive shooting to moonclip fed revolvers. A few years later I picked up the RM380 for a song. The long double action trigger pull of the RM380 works well for my "revolver trigger finger" and it fits so nicely in a vest pocket. I currently mostly carry the 442 and occasionally the RM380.

Well matey, I only have 3 that I can really carry, maybe 4, but the one I carry most would be a Smith M&P40 compact. Carried with Speer Gold Dot 165..
2. Smith M&P 40. This was an LEOs personal pistol, and it's much different than the OTC M&P40 my buddy has. Sights are different and his trigger ain't nowhere even close to the trigger on mine. I carry this in the cooler seasons in a shoulder rig, with 2 spare mags, same ammo as the compact.
3. Ruger GP100, 3", stainless 5 shot 44 Special. OWB, with a long shirt. It's a bit on the heavy side, but that's less of a problem than keeping it from printing
4. Colt King Cobra Target, 4.25". I'll be looking for a shoulder rig for it. It's about as big as I'd want for carry, and from the issues I've read about the new Colt wheel guns, I'm really not sure if I ever would carry it. Maybe I'll change my mind after a few thousand rounds. But it wouldn't be bad for winter carry.
I keep thinking I'd like to get a 642, or something along those lines, or I should just go buy that absolutely mint first run Cobra my LGS has in the case(if it's still there).
I'll put some pics up when I finally get my lazy butt up and get out to the barn.....don't get many Sundays off

Sig P239. DAK trigger.
One in 9mm, that I shoot all the time and, carry occasionally.
One in 357 SIG that’s carried the most.
(Theory being, I can shoot the crap out of the 9mm for much less money than 357 SIG)

Ruger SP101.

Rarely, a Sig P232.

Really, that’s about it. Sometimes just piddling about the house, I might drop a S&W 642 in my pocket or even a hyper lightweight American Derringer.

The derringer is also my beach gun.

Time changes things, but 2023 has started out like this for me.

Highest percent of daily carry listed first. I'm mostly a pocket carry guy due to my working conditions.

1. Ruger LCP Max, 10+1 (bumped my RM380 out of the top 5)
2. Charter Arms Undercoverette, 6+0 (points the most naturally for me, no mags to pop loose)
3. Taurus TCP732, 7+1 with modded mag (thinnest I own for snug pants days)
4. Glock 36, 6+1 or 7+1 (consistently proven to be my most accurate carry gun)
5. CZ 75D PCR, 14+1 (looking to add XS big dot sights for my aging eyes, which should bump it above the G36)

Glock 22.5
Glock 17.5
Sig 365
- carried in pocket with one of the prior Glocks AIWB - gives me the option* to put hand on it without revealing I'm carrying

Glock 26
Ruger LCP
(sadly makes top 5) - this is holstered in gym shorts pocket with the Glock 26 in a Smartcarry, my going to the gym combo; holstered LCP goes in locked locker the Glock stays on me while I exercise. LCP affords quicker access* to/from outside the gym.

Yes, I'm always carrying two pistols (excepting inside the gym or push mowing yard) and location nor anticipated threat have nothing to do with it.
Do I think I "need" two guns? No. I don't think I'll "need" one (never have in 30 years of carry). Options*. Think options*.

My top five has recently changed.
1- S&W 442 38sp
2- LCPII 380acp
3- Kimber R7 Mako 9mm (new)
4- Springfield XDM compact 45acp
5- Taurus 605 357mag
Honorable mention S&W 637 38sp

I think that I will be replacing the 605 with a 10mm Glock 29 or XDM 3.8.
Actually for two reasons.
1- more capacity with the 10mm with comparable energy levels to the 357.
2- I have found that Underwood 158 38+p hardcast loads are effective in the j frame size gun. My 442 weights about 10 ounces less than the same size 605 revolver.

The Kimber is becoming a favorite, though the 442 & LCPII are a little easier to pocket carry.

Here's the M&Ps. The compact most of the time, the LE model when I'm wearing a jacket

The sights on the LE model.....they glow in the dark, and that trigger, to say that I'm lights out with this one is an understatement

This is the rig I use for the compact, the good old sneaky Pete. I do have another OWB holster for it, but this guy doesn't care what kind of clothes you're wearing. I had a little piece of rubber hose sticking out of it so it looked like a medical device, don't even bother with that no more

Sig P365 is number 1, any number of J frames is number 2. That’s about as big as I go. I really like my Beretta 92X compact (just a little to big and heavy) but if I find a good soft leather holster it could work it’s way in on cooler days. It has a wonderful double action trigger and the single action is the bees knees. IMG_1013.jpeg IMG_1447.jpeg IMG_1454.jpeg

P365XL and a 442/642. Occasionally I'll go with a pocket 380 in place of the J. I got a G42 recently and it's so easy to shoot its like cheating. Once I have another hundred through it I'll probably pocket it.

Winter I tell myself to carry the G19, but then I just snap on the Sig. Gotta love the comfort.

1. P365XL
2. J frame
3. LCP MAX

4. G19 primary in "winter"
5. G42 as a really shootable pocket carry.
