What have you done in the reloading room today

Broke down ten sets of dies (removed lock n load bushings) from the estate I’m moving. These bushings sell for about twelve bucks each. Also set up the 007 press with a 38/357 seater/crimper so I can finally try out some coated bullets(also in the estate “pile”.
I just bought 10 at Scheels for $56… that’s a bit less than $12

Not much...
Shined up a small batch of 45 ACP

in the wet tumble recipe.
All WIN headstamp with the good ole large primer pocket.

Don't really need more loaded, but I need something to do!

Plan to load up 200.
My limits for loading is what fits in the safe. The humidity and temp swings are to big for garage or outside storage... the bonus is once full I can focus on making boolits.....

Still sizing 357 Magnum brass. My dies seem to be cured of the scratches they were making. I took them apart and cleaned the sizing die twice and started lubing cases. The scratches are gone, but there is now a lubing step.

The lube doesn't prevent scratches, if they are clean and seasoned, resume normal operations.

Finished up a good number of .223 loads. Using 50-ish grain HP from Sierra, Speer and Hornady over Varget, CFE 223, BLC-2, IMR 3031 and VIHT N 133. I plan to shoot them all out of my very accurate Ruger American Ranch. The only question is when I will get to it; the weather has been too bad for range time so now I have a HUGE backlog of 5 or 6 calibers that are just begging to be shot. Too many choices make life hard as I get older....o_O

I decapped the 83 rounds of 7.62x54r I fired during the recent match.
During the match, I noticed a few rounds were a bit harder to close the bolt on, so I measured all 83 rounds and found that the vast majority were just under 2.00"; like 1.998 or so.
5 rounds were over 2.000, 3 of them at about 2.002".

2 rounds pieces were 2.013 (!)

This is a batch of 98 pieces that I prepped for this particular rifle. Length trimmed, neck turned to . 010", weight sorted, primer pocket done, flash holes reamed, etc etc.

I have no idea how 2 pieces can stretch that much, and not the rest. Especially considering that after an initial FL sizing, they have been neck-sized only.

However, I set up the Forster and trimmed 5 pieces back to length, after neck-sizing those 5 first.

Still a mystery.

Deprimed the brass from today's range trip.

My 2400/240xtp 44 Mag load runs GREAT in my wife's 99/44! Cycles well, right at 2" @100yds, 1700fps with a low SD.

Barnes 110 TAC-TX's all shot great, as accurate as I am with a red dot, and the ES/SD's really shrunk at 20.0&20.2(max). All the SD's were 25+ until 20.0(2108fps11SD) and 20.2(2137fps5SD). No pressure signs on either, and they are both even at the velocity I was hoping for! I'll have to put a magnified optic on after I load more up at 20.0&20.2gr to really check accuracy.

110 Vmaxes didn't run that well. Not feeding well and big groups until 20.0&20.2. Still had the feeding problem, but accuracy and velocity were good with 2154avg for 20.0 & 2165avg for 20.2, both with an SD of 15, no pressure signs. From some quick searching, I'm going to try seating the bullet at 2.068" or 2.080" (I went with the book 2.050)with the top charges to see if that helps with the feeding. Will try a couple different magazines as well.

Interesting. I was running them out of a bolt gun in a 308 win, but they weren’t at all close to happy(I could tell because they stayed an long way apart on my target😁) until the upper end of my charge ladder.

Maybe they like to be spicy! I have no idea how this little upper likes it's supersonics, but am awful happy with the velocities I have been able to get out of this 8.3" barrel! I forgot to add to my earlier post, I found one of the 110 Barnes in the burm behind the 100 yd targets while letting barrels cool. Weighed in at 107.2gr after I cleaned it, looks like it had pretty good expansion!

I made a damned mess.
I was working out of town this week and my sleep schedule got all messed up.
Went shooting yesterday in the rain and cold.
Came home had supper and passed out on the sofa.
Woke up at 1:00am and decided to start powder coating bullets.
I have some cheap powder that needs 2 coats so I was on my 3rd batch.
Took them out of the oven after the first coat.
It was around 2:30am and I dumped them directly into the tub of powder creating a sticky mess.

I shut everything down and called it a night.
This morning I loaded 20 rounds of 6.5 Creedmoor to compare loading on cheap vs nice equipment.
Here is the link.

I went up to the cave to clean it up. It also doubles as my storeroom for my business records, and I had paperwork everywhere. Culled out some of the junk (I now have a foot high stack of paper to grind up...) and filed or boxed up the rest. NOW I have room to turn the work table... which became the catch-all for everything... and start cleaning all those guns. My daughter is having major back surgery this Wednesday (car accident) so this week will be taken up with that and work, and I have a bowling tournament next weekend... but then I'll be in the clear for a bit. I have about 25 rifles and pistols to clean...

In the meantime... I've got a few minutes, I'mma run up and turn down a few more pieces of .308 brass that are waiting for me...

I made a damned mess.
Sorry about that.
Rack it up to experience, ya, that thing we get right after we need it!
My daughter is having major back surgery
Really sorry to hear that.
Hope all turns out well!

Back to our regularly scheduled program...........

All that I did today was size 200 - 45 ACP cases.
Oh, and popped some spent primers on some range brass.

I finally found the time to get out and enjoy the nice weather, popping primers and resizing .38’s. I got all set then smelled the rain coming. So I setup on the porch and an hour later the sky fell so I moved inside. Got 50 Gévelot resized, decapped, cut out the primer crimps, normalized the cups, chamfered the case mouths inside and out and got them - along with 50 WIN - ready for a second tumble.
The WIN will get W244 and 110gr JHP while the Gévelot will get BE86 and 160gr LRN #358311 (Linotype). Both will get Servicios Argentine primers.

The Gévelot are really hard to seat so they will make a good test case.

Flared and primed enough 357 cases to load half my current supply of Berrys DEWC. The other half will go in 38 Sp cases. While I’m set up for 357 I might as well flare and prime the rest of my sized cases for some 158 grain MBC SWC bullets pushed by 2400 powder. I’m nearly out now, with only 8 cylinders left. That’s probably enough to last until July 4, but I want to be ready to celebrate.
