I’ve looked a lot, but haven’t found a good, durable bag. I really wanted something more substantial than a grocery bag, thinner too.I did a google search and found some prospects.
Cordura or heavy canvas isn't real cheap.
Divers bags & electrical bags are $$$
Those companies that sell promotional swag usually have cloth bags to print stuff on. The grocery bags are out there too. Maybe you will wreck a few before you discover your level of sturdiness .
I have a cloth “Target store ” bag that serves me well. It even has a red target on its sides.
File off any sharp edges on your steel.
That’s what I’m currently using. I’d like something with a handle so I can carry four at a time.I put mine in a basic cardboard box, reinforced with duct tape, and some extra pieces of cardboard as spacers.
I thought about a wooden box, but two 1/2” thick 12” gongs would be all I want to carry at one time.I have a couple of dueling trees 1 centerfire, 1 rimfire and are petty gangling when assembled.
I made a wooden box for the paddles and the tree "trunks" fold up flat.
I use a cheap harbor freight hand truck to mover that stuff around.

.
I think that's what I'm going to try. Thanks!Check out your local Farm/Feed stores, maybe even Tractor Supply, for empty grain bags/sacks, they’re like a woven material that’s pretty rugged.
Hey … here’s a deal, maybe????
4 canvas bags w/ handles for $10, measuring 14” by 17” x 4” thick. At that price either double them up or lay a cheap piece of carpet in first as a liner.

I used to lug all that steel around and setup, but found I needed some time to get my pulse rate back down before I could shoot.I thought about a wooden box, but two 1/2” thick 12” gongs would be all I want to carry at one time.
I was going to say that is what duct tape is for, but the canvas bag idea seems so obvious now having heard that from others, I'm on that bandwagon. That’s what I’m currently using. I’d like something with a handle so I can carry four at a time.
While we live outside the city limits, we don’t have enough property to have a home range.I just leave my steel gongs hanging in my backyard. I would not want to transport those things.
My neighbor shoots long range black powder cartridge and has a whole trailer full of large heavy steel gongs that he take to and from the range.
I really wanted something more substantial than a grocery bag, thinner too.
That would be quite the engineering feat.
I mean narrower. The 1/2” gongs are so heavy I don’t want to carry more than two or three 12 inch diameter gongs in a bag. That would be quite the engineering feat.
You’re right. I meant narrower.I think he meant the dimensions of the bag, not the thickness of the material!
However, if that material were invented and affordable, sign me up for some!
Amen brother!heavy I don’t want to carry more than two or three
I wish I could, but I shoot steel at a public gun club. It's a small club, but you can't leave anything at the range. I use the 1/2" steel for 500 yards and 3/8" for pistol ranges.Yeah hauling steel round gets old quick. How about a filing cabinet wherever you shoot, to lock it up in, keep paint in, eyes and ears...the other stuff you normally haul around too.
