Im sorry I should have been more specific. Im asking in regards to the current conflict in Europe and threats of "cutting russia off economically" meaning we would stop importation of russian ammo?

Its a good question. Right now the best answer is a qualified maybe. The problem is that the current administration is consistently inconsistent. The response could be a finger scraping accompanied by a disapproving "tsk, tsk" up to and including a nuclear strike. The reality is probably closer to the lower end of the spectrum. My thoughts are that if you shoot alot of it. You might want to get some more sooner rather than later. (I'm nit a seer, prophet or guru, and my free opinion may well be worth much less than you paid for it.)

Nothing will happen Russia will withdraw troops if it can exercise control of Crimea or leave them in place taking back this region. We know that Europeans are not able to put shoes on w/o US backing and for all practical purposes US can do nothing for the Ukrainians.

don't know what will happen but IMHO if you buy import ammo you should do so with the idea that at any moment .gov could pull the plug on it.

Tula has plants in multiple countries, e.g. Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina under BrassMaxx label. So, these will most likely not be affected. Since it is quite common in these parts for ranges to not allow "bi-metal" jacketed bullets, the steel case stuff is out of the running. Since, last time I read anything Tula was the largest ammo maker in the world and their press releases seem to indicate that they have plans to build ammo that appeal to the US market. So, my guess is that we will continue to see BrassMax and other brands that we never saw before at our local Walmarts and gun stores.

Also a good chance Russia will have better use for their ammunition given their ambitions than selling it to the US. I hate to be a panic monger, but there are actually several good reasons why imports will likely be curtailed or stop, at least temoporarily;

-Excuse by the administration to hurt American gunowners
-Lets the administrations look tough on Russia without much fallout or risk
-Russians are probably looking to bolster their ammo supply just in case, or to arm their Ukrainian proxies
-Trade sanctions will likely affect the cargo transport vessels' operations from the area (I assume this port is where Russian ammo comes from)
-Russia is highly likely to shut down transport routes through and to Ukraine in order to squeeze the rest of the country and Europe and prevent their continued opposition

All that said, given the way shipping transport works, any ban or shortage won't be known for weeks to months, since plenty is here now, and there probably wasn't any on the way for a while in any case.

Yes, by all means panic and spend every single penny of discretionary income and buy every single piece of Russian ammo you see. Everyone should do this. What could possibly go wrong?

I thought by now Infowars would say that the situation in Ukraine was really started by the current administration in a "manufactured behind the scenes" 'backdoor gun control scheme'. You know, a big 'elaborate ruse' in order to get the the U.S. to ban imports of ammo from Russia in order to disarm Americans. Alex Jones must be sleeping on the job.

Well, I just checked the couple of online sites I frequent for ammo and all the steel cased stuff in 9mm are GONE. It's still out there according to ammoseek.com, but it's selling for a minimum of $14 a box. I think a lot of other shooters have the same idea as you. Thank gawd I bought a couple of thousand rounds in last month when prices were somewhat back to normal for 9mm. It looks like a new wave of panic is about to set in. (No, I don't scalp. I shoot.)

Well, I heard the traditionally pro-gun conservative segment of our political establishment is on it's last legs. I mean not being to secure women vote, minority vote and soon to be majority latino vote is really hurting future election chances. If one likes to shoot spending discretionary funding on ammo isn't really what I would consider ill advice.

I also reload every thing that I shoot. 380 up to 375 D W in hand guns and 223 up to 30.06 long guns.

How could the TPP affect ammo trade? Just read a little bit about it on Wikipedia and a lot of what's in the TPP hasn't been made known to even our reps. Needless to say it seems that they're non too happy about it. Sorry I ask a petty question but I'm at work and wasn't able to read a lot about it.

I can live without the "American" cartridges tulammo and brown bear makes, but what about the "commie" cartridges do we have domestic sources or atleast non-russian?

^ All the domestic stuff is expensive! Winchester has the cheapest offerings I believe.

Also, if all of us who shoot Tula for fun and competition have to switch to domestic brass-cased ammo, then availability of the latter is going to go down and prices up, due to the increased demand.
