    Best rifle/carbine for non-military non-LEO California citizen

    I have to vote for the SKS. Ammo is (relatively) cheap, and the rifle as well. Buy one, get 1000 rounds and practice away.

    Best ammo for Marlin 60

    My Marlin 60 loves the CCI Mini Mags. Fast, accurate and death on squirrels. I use those for squirrels and bunnies and the cheaper stuff for plinking.

    cheap digital calipers from Harbor Freight

    I bought one like that from Harbor Freigh and it was a piece of crap. The screen would give all kinds of weird readings, and then the plastic thing that held the rolling wheel broke. I chucked it and bought a Frankford Arsenal dial caliper and it works very well.

    High Standard .22 Parts/Repair

    Does anyone here know if the firing pin and the retaining pins for a High Standard Model B will work in the Hartford Arms pistol? My research says they are pretty much the same....

    Get a Marlin 60 or 10/22. Not that much more money, and a lot more rifle. IMHO

    Anyone not like heavy barrels?

    You have to look at the advantages and disadvantages to both. Personally, I have many of both. I prefer heavy for bench or shooting off the hood of my truck, but I don't like lugging a 12.5 lb rifle around much.

    Bushnell 4200 for 700 .223 - side focus vs front AO?

    I have the side focus model and like it a lot. It's on a Savage 12BVSS in .223.
