Best ammo for Marlin 60

rimfirecentral.com is a good place for this kind of information. I just shot mine (an older version) yesterday for the first time, and Federal bulk pack didn't do bad at 25 yards. A twelve year old was able to nail targets about a quarter in size with a 2.5X scope with it.

As much as I hate 'em because they are dirtier than most and can be very inconsisitent those darn Rem Golden bulk bullets produce very tight groups in my 60!

I've got a dozen 22 of all types (but no Marlin 60's oddly enough). I'm way to lazy and forgetful to try to figure out what ammo works best in what gun then remember which ammo goes with which gun (Don't suggest writing it down, I'll forget where I put the list.) and then keeping a supply of that ammo in stock, so I've just settled on Federal 750's from Wal-Mart. Maybe not "the best" in any one gun, but good enough for all of them.

+1 on the Federal bulk pack. Mine loves them. I can get around 1.5" at 50 yards with them.

I just got a new model 60 from a local pawn shop. I tested it with Federal Champions that i picked up at Cabelas. It worked just fine and semed to be plenty accurate.

I also found out my gun will feed the CCI 22CB long rounds. No they don't function the action but you can operate the bolt handle and they will cycle through the action.

I have used these loads for years to kill squirrels in my back yard that raided my Pecan tree. The short CBs will not cycle at all so don't try them.

This is the fun of shooting,,, testing ammo. Each gun will shoot a little different. I always try several different brands. and let the rifle tell me what it like. And it is a reason to shoot more.
Be Safe, Have fun

IME, the only way to determine what works "best" in any make or model of .22 RF is to set your personal criteria for that term, buy a bunch of different brands and try them.

Be willing to compromise. It's a rare thing to find a single load that combines 'best' accuracy, 'best' function' and 'best' economy, especially in a semiauto.

My Marlin 60 loves the CCI Mini Mags. Fast, accurate and death on squirrels.

I use those for squirrels and bunnies and the cheaper stuff for plinking.

0.6" at 50 yards with Remington Golden Bullet and a 4x scope.

It is a little underpowered though.
