Thanks for the response and interest. Just fired the Titegroup load...7 grains. That was a good load....10 grains of Unique was great as well. I will try and get a photo. Thanks again.
Lyman 255 gr requires a gas check. A lubed, sized and gas checked round is 267gr. The 240 does not require a gas check. I do not know why Limon uses that odd ball weight round. I looked at the data previously and used 6 gr of Titegroup. Easy load. However, I used a stout Acc#9 load. Better...
You bet
I believe you get what you pay for in pistols. I have always been able to tell the difference in trigger pull and the way a revolver handles recoil....That is why I love Freedom Arms and Smith. However, my daughter just bought a match Ruger 357 and the trigger has been worked..it is...
Just purchased a 44 mag Freedom Arms, octagon barrel, 4.75, birds head handle and trigger job...Love it...did I say I loved it yet? I have a Freedom Casul but just wanted another Freedom toy. I am trying to develop a load for it. I would like to use TiteGroup...just because I have a ton of...
Couple or five reasons.
* Most standard .357 rifling probably won't stabilize a bullet that long for caliber.
* Case capacity would be reduced to almost unusable safe limits with a bullet that long in the .357 case.
* Pressure spikes would be just a matter of a minor powder measure...
A side issue about that powder is be sure not to leave it in the drop over night or longer. The older powder, at least, tended to work on the plastic....Yeah, I know..I should not leave it in the drop anyway....
http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/constitution/item/16881-epa-closure-of-last-lead-smelting-plant-to-impact-ammunition-production
Read and weep. The last lead smelting plant is being closed...supposedly by the EPA. They produce 11 percent of the worlds lead. Nice bunch of folks in DC...
I second the motion on the wax being the culprit. Before I started pouring my own rounds, I was using Missouri Bullets and liked them a lot. However, the lube on their rounds did cause a bit of smoke. My daughter noticed it more than I did but she did comment on it immediately. Good company...
Could not agree more with the comments by ArchAngel. CCI 41 is an outstanding primer and is a magnum primer. I use that in my Casull loads as well. Good and hard...no slam fires either.....
Just a note on the Pro Chrono. I had to deal with customer service on replacing some parts.....My wife killed one of the sun shield supports. They were very responsive, very quick and very reasonable........as in free.
It does well in bright conditions and reduced light but not REALLY...
Lake City does very well. Be careful on any of it and keep track of the number of times you have fired the round....no matter what one you use. Lapua is a good brass for very technical shooting....but you better be good enough to tell the difference to make the cost worth while.
Mr. Wesson....Point well taken. I had to laugh...I thought I was the only one that kept several duplicate parts laying around....even on things that do not normally break...lol.
This one instance probably boils down to me just wanting to advance the process at my pace and not the tool's...
Magma
I have been in continual contact with Magma. The problem is definitely in the base size. As I stated, it is .430...I believe that the Hornady and Gator are .426 ( think I remembered that correctly). The aluminum checks sent by Sages went on fine. I am going to load a few and test fire...
Spray
After you clean it up, spray it with Barricade. I have found this stuff to be the most reliable, easy to use lube and inhibitor of anything I have ever tried. It also comes in packets of wipes so that you can throw them in a range bag and use them when needed.
