First time Dillon 550b buyer...what all should I buy?

Wow, that's a very quick way and easy to change the priming size. Thanks

    Should I Buy/Need info: Winchester Model 12

My father gave me his 28" round barrel model 12 that he received from his father as a wedding present. I grew up shooting this gun and loved it. I reloaded my own shells and it never gave me any problems at all. It took all kinds of game.

    Lever Guns

A Marlin 336C was my first deer rifle at age 14 and I still have and use it to take deer around my home at age 55. A handloaded 170 grain solid base Nosler does the trick. I stocked up on these bullets years ago when I heard Nosler was discontinuing the solid base line.

How to carry (backpacking) a rifle into basecamp?

A Pelican or similar case should work fine when strapped to a cart.

    1911 purchase advice needed

The gunsmith that built my race gun liked the Springfield. He said the steel was good quality.

A light, short, bolt carbine... the quest...

I like the Model 70 in 300 WSM. Shoots great with little recoil and plenty of punch.

    thoughts on my first rifle

The Marlin 336 is a great shooter and not too expensive. You can get a basic AR 15 for around $700 to $800. I have my 30-30 Marlin 336C that I got at age 14 way back when and I still love shooting it. It has taken many deer for me over the years and I still hunt with it around my house in the...

I feel like Rip Van Winkle

I still love my old Investarms .54 caliber Hawkins I ordered from Cabelas. I love the smell of the burning powder and the possibles that go along with that rifle. I even love cleaning the gun with the boiling water and the whole nine yards of caring for this gun.

What aspects of shooting interest you MOST?

I have a range in my yard and I like everything about firearms and shooting. I used to compete in IPSC back when I owned a bullet and ammunition manufacturing business. But now I just shoot for fun. I always loved to watch hunter class and silhouette competitions although I never competed...

    Difficulty in building AR upper

There are plenty of videos on You Tube that show you how to do it.

    Difficulty in building AR upper

It is as easy to build an upper as it is to build a lower. If you get a good barrel there is no need to have to adjust the head space. You simply torque down the barrel retaining nut. 30 foot pounds if I remember correctly.

    Best entry level 1911?

Maybe look for something used instead of new. They are tough guns and last for many years even under heavy use.

Plastic fantastic -- polymer guns, a poll

I have shot Glock, Ruger and XD pistols but prefer the feel of my M&P best of all.
