Not counting a Daisy pellet/bb rifle at around 7or8, my grandfather let me use my grandmother's Stevens 20ga single barrel to squirrel hunt with him at 9, and bought me my own Ithaca model 36 20ga at 10. He taught me how to do it right.

I can't speak for either rifle. Both are from reputable companies. What I can speak for is my Stevens mod 200. No problems, no misses, no worries. Polymer stock many dislike, but I'm satisfied. You can probably find one used for around $200.

My absolute favorite has also turned out to be my duty carry piece, it's my P95 FM Hi Power

I guess my refinish job doesn't look so good. The pics were taken after I stripped it, brushed the aliminum frame, and cold blued the steel slide, levers, and hammer. Ooh well! Back to the drawing board.

The most I have paid for a handgun has been $500. I found a brushed stainless Para Ordnance LDA 12-45 Compact, and had just sold a PSL for $1000, so I bought it. Really can't say that I would spend that much on 1 gun of any kind again unless it was something extra special.

I can't imagine the Coonan .45 WinMag being called a wimp, or the DE .50 AE or .44 Automag either as far as auto's go, but I would like to see them in a side by side comparison with a .454 Casual, .460 Roland and a .500 S&W revolvers.

When I am on duty, I carry an Argentine 9mm Hi-Power, with a Kel-Tec P-11 as a backup. Off duty it's either my Hi-power or my Essex/Colt 1911a1 and a Kel-Tec P3-at .380.
