Both of my holsters for my security six, i bought from the gunshop "bargain bin": used leather bianchi and desantis holsters that still had a lot of life left in them. K frame holsters work well.

Well, after disassembling the Commander and reassembling with two different triggers, I have determined that the lack of pre travel is caused by the Nighthawk custom trigger stirrup being out of spec. A trigger from my Kimber and a trigger borrowed from a friend both fit, and allowed sufficient...

@1911 Tuner: The hammer still falls when pressure is put on the back of the spur and the trigger is pulled. I did notice something interesting, however: If you pull the slide back a tiny bit (1/4") the hammer will click into position, and be unaffected by the trigger. The trigger will move...

I didn't know there was a difference between series 70 and 80 hammers. I bought the gun used. At half cock, the hammer sits further back from the slide than my Kimber. What about trying different disconnectors?

As far as I know, the hammer is original, and the Commander was manufactured in 1972. Upon inspection earlier today, the Nighthawk trigger protrudes slightly further than the edge of the trigger channel. How do I remedy this? I am leery of removing metal from the disconnector.

This is a Series 70 gun. @CAWalter: That would mean I have to back out the trigger adjustment screw?

I recently finished my first 1911 build, basically modernizing a Colt Combat Commander with a Duracoat paint job, beavertail safety, enlarged thumb safety, flat MSH, and a medium length trigger. I kept the original Colt Hammer, Sear and disconnector. After test firing several hundred rounds...

Seems to me that if a person's hands are too small to adequately control the weapon, they should not be firing it. I have relatively small hands and I can really only fire the 92 in single action.

Stay away from the IAC 1897s. My friend's discharged and blew a hole in his ceiling while he was unloading it.

Hey folks, I will being going to Yavapai College's Gunsmithing program in Prescott, AZ, starting in the fall. Are there any good ranges to join in that area of AZ? Also, I hear you can just go out into the desert and shoot. Are there any good spots in the desert for this?

Got a used Buck Mark for $230 OTD. Great gun.
