I'd say shoot to stop, but whenever you draw your weapon, aren't you doing so with the idea that you are going to more than likely end a life? Not saying that you want to, but it just goes back to "don't aim at anything you aren't planning on killing".
Well, it isn't actually mine. I bought it for my lovely little lady when she decided she needed a pistol with a little more meat to it than a stainless Walther PPK she was packin' for CCW. I'm a diehard 1911 guy, but after shooting this pistol, I might be looking for a police trade in for myself.
If it's a short barrel model, I have one just like it. What I've found is take your thumb, slide the release lever to the side and give the entire gun a good flick. The gravity will used the weight of the barrel to go ahead and open the thing up. It's almost the same method like casting line...
I have the exact same setup as the one listed above. However, I took the target grips off since the butt was pretty thick and swapped them out with some thin hogues. They made it more slim under my arm and easier to hold on to expecially when shooting heavier loads. I not only carry it this way...

If it gets her into shooting, by all means do it. I had a girl that insisted on only shooting my cowboy guns. She thought they were more traditional and not as threatening to her. Whatever floats her boat.........Git-R-Done.
