How many own a S&W Model 19?

Hey Guys and Gals,

I am sure this has already been asked but I figured I would ask again. How many of you own a S&W M19. My dad bought me one out of a pawn shop a few years back about the time I turned 20 or 21 and I have loved it.

It has a 6'' Barrel and Rubber grips. I am not sure but I think someone has done a trigger job on it at one point because of the smoothest SA pull I have ever known on a revolver of its size.

I love the gun and have seen several people post on threads how they love theirs or are sad about passing up the opportunity to grab one. Mine is way to big and heavy for CCW but it makes a great range gun and I keep it on my nightstand for home defense.
 
Model 19

I have a blued 4" Nickeled 4" and my favorite ( at least to look at!)
My 2 1/2 Nickle with Original combat grips
 
I have a 4" Combat model. It's a beautiful gun that shoots same hole if I do my part. Trigger is so smooth I swear it's had work done, but the previous owner swears back that it didn't.

I'm looking for a 19 with a 2" barrel.

I bought a blued 2.5" M19 in the late 1970s but sold it to finance a weekend trip with my girlfriend.

Should have kept the gun.

Picked up another just like it a year or two later but sold it as well for some reason that I am sure made sense at the time.

In 1988 I was walking a gun show in San Jose, CA when I spotted this nickel M19 snubby. Bagged it for $180 and it turned out to have been shipped in 1970 to a federal agency. It's 20 years later and I still have this one.

Learned my lesson.

I do. 4 inch, nickel, 19-3 or -4, I forget which. Pinned and recessed.

You can't have it.

I thought that about mine too, until I shot someone else's. Exactly the same. That's the way they made them.

Same. Except mine is a 19-3.
It was my first pistol I ever bought. I had been planning on a GP100, but I was struck by the M19 in the case and had to have it.
I'm so glad I did. It is just pure smooth operation. As someone else said, like a fine wine. Rich, smooth, satisfying, and I can't imagine anything nicer.
 
Currently I own a Nickel 4" 19-3, a blue 4" 19-4, a blue 6" 19-5, and a 4" RB melonite factory finish 19-7.

I had to sell a few due to circumstances. Great revolvers! TJ
 
4" blued 19-3. It is my favorite. Nothing compares in accuracy. I only shoot low pressure .38 special. I figure it is in retirement and deserves a rest.
 
i have a 2.5" nickle plated

SW model 19 was the first handgun i bought as soon as i turned 18 and got my permit. it wasn't legal for me to buy from a dealer so i had to buy it used from a former police officer. still have it to this day and i love it.
 
I had one, 4" blued, the first handgun I ever bought actually, and I was too stupid to know what I had. I traded it off. :banghead:

Now, I'm slowly going along, and looking for a replacement for some of those guns I wish I had back. I think a Model 19 will be the next on the list.

--same shape, wrong alloy. What's not to love?

It's a decent tool for the work I do.:rolleyes:

S&W model 19-3 here~!

a 4" pinned and recessed, pristine factory nickel model that has only
been tested fired 37 times with 158 grain L-SWC target loads; and
its complete with the original factory box, spec sheet, blank warranty
card, ammo brocheure, and brown wax paper from 1975; as its 7K
S/N dates too~! ;) :D

I forgot to mention that I also have a 2.5" S&W model 66-4 (pinned
barrel only) .357 magnum; which is the same as a 2.5" model 19,
except its fabricated from stainless steel.
 
Through the tears of nostalgia,...I'll admit that I had one,...4 incher and a fine shooter too,...that I traded for a pretty 686 in 4 inch in a moment of weakness. Sure do regret that decision,...though the 686 is a great one too,.....
 
I have two, a 4 inch and a 2 1/2 inch. I bought both new and still have the boxes and stuff. The 4 incher I bought in about 1983, not long after getting out of the Army. I've shot that revolver quite a bit and the action has smoothed up very nicely through use. It feels as if it has had work done to it so I'm not surprised to hear of this being common to other Model 19s.

The 2 1/2 incher I bought in the early 1990's and have not shot it very much. It is very interesting to compare the feel of it's action with that of the 4 inch. It is noticeably heavier and not nearly as smooth as the 4 inch. Guess I need to get to shooting it more. :)

Both are blued by the way. The 4 inch is the second handgun that I ever bought. The first being a 5" Colt Series 70 Government Model that I bought just weeks out of Army. Fortunately, I held on to the Smith whereas I foolishly sold the Colt. :banghead:

Oh, and in the second picture, no, it's not refinished. It's just the lighting that make the blueing look inconsistent from barrel to frame.

By the way, if you hadn't guessed, this gun is my namesake. She's a 1973.
