If you feel motivated, you can disassemble the bolt, remove the firing pin, and replace it with an aftermarket part that is not free-floating. That should prevent slamfires. A simpler solution is to be sure the pin is free of all cosmoline, and don't over-oil the weapon! It's designed to run...

I think a 12 gauge with the aforementioned low-recoil loads would do nicely, if you can find the shotgun and the ammo locally (or quickly). It's terrible someone so young should have to face that kind of reality. I think equally important steps to take would be to make sure her home alone time...

I don't think it's so much to ask to be allowed to take home a rifle that belonged to someone who aimed it at me (but is now deceased). I guess I am old-fashioned.

Of course no one needs it. Those who want to tacticool a rimfire rifle are welcome to do so. The rest of us work for a living. :)

My Baby Eagle 9mm Compact (polymer, with polygonal rifling) has served me well for 700 rounds or so. I don't know why the OP likes the trigger, though. The SA is okay, but the DA leaves much to be desired.

I had the opportunity to pick up a Ruger autoloader for $200 with just a bit of rust. I was told it was a police trade-in. After handling it and (with the dealer's permission) dry-firing it, I handed it right back despite the excellent price. The thing was clunky and fat, and had a mediocre...

Is there a comprehensive list of AR brands/models that are 5.56 safe? If/when I ever go the AR route, I want to be able to fire both.
