Thats very funny because I have a Ruger 10/22 that is blacked out with a bipod and scope and 35rd mag. Although it doesn't sound like much it always gets some funny looks.
Foul! That is the stock I want for my 10/22 and here comes another reminder. Must resist, must protect bank account. I put tech-sight peeps on it, bolt hold release, mag release, extra mags etc.
Ruger has sold what 4 or 5 million of the 10/22's? I have absolutely no doubt it IS the most popular rifle sold in America.
Made a point recently with someone moaning about the expiration of the Klintoon Cosmetic Features Ban...Set out my 10/22 with the standard 10-round Ruger Rotary magazines..."Sporting rifle, right?"
Anti--"Yes"
Laid out the Butler Creek 25-round Hot Lips magazines..."Still same Sporting Rifle, Yes or no?"
"Yes...wait no...ahhhh Yes, but now holds 25 rounds...no now it is assault rifle.....Can it fire full-auto now?"
Should have a 25-rounder in the EBRized Ruger. Would make it look a little scarier.
Of course, I could see some dim bulbs getting the bright idea that the obvious solution is to rally for the ban of pistol-grip stocks and >10-round mags so that their "legitimate sporting rifles" don't get banned...
Yep. Somewhere...sometime.... someone will kill someone with a .22LR and the media will show the rifle on right.
"The victim was killed by a .22 rifle much like the one pictured <show evil black .22>, purchased at a local Walmart"
The next thing you know, some Democrat is sponsoring legislation to 1) serialize and microstamp .22lr ammunition, 2) increase taxes on .22lr ammunition to support gun victims 3) outlaw all .22lr rifle modifications including 3rd party stocks, pistol grips, large magazines, etc 4) move .22lr rifles to the "assault weapons" category to get them covered under the next AWB.
Unfortunately, California still has a ban on the "dangerous black furniture" that magically turns a normal rifle into a "destructive device" or shall I say "assault weapons ban".
This is how they might start attacking the lowly .22
Rimfire cartridges are the exception to the assault riffles ban. A rifle that fires a rimfire cartage can have a detachable magazine, pistol grip a barel and overall length shorter than usually allowed. They'll call it a "rimfire loophole" if they think they can get away with it.:banghead:
Trouble is, lots of folks enjoy .22 plinking. Anti gunners will have an uphill battle.
Gona get me a ar-15 with a 22 upper before that happens. Gotta do my part
I like the poster-And the truth of it worries me.
Not to pick nits, but the marlin model 60 is over the 11 million mark, the 10/22 over 5 million. At least according to Wikipedia.
Of course someone, probably on this very board, is saying to themselves "I can see owning those left three rifles, but nobody needs a rifle like that right one".
I don't trust the anti gun crowd (Brady Bunch, et al.) with my Single Action Revolvers or my Lever Action Rifles either! They want to get rid of all of them for most people EXCEPT for law enforcement, military and/or the politicos with their special rights and PAID PROTECTION by TAXPAYERS!
