Then I believe it would be a square butt gun. FWIW When I put my square butt grips on my round butt 686, it changed the point of aim. I had the sights dialed right in with the original grips, but couldn't hit squat after I changed them.

Hi Medic. Is your 686 an early square butt?

As you well know, the 686-5 is a round butt revolver. To put a pair of square butt target grip on the gun, you will need to fabricate a wedge. The wedge is then glued onto one side of the grip. You guys get the idea.
