Hmm.. lots of opinions here. But then that's what I was trying to start... a lively discussion. I agree that a 22LR will accomplish almost everything you need to do. However, I was trying to put out a new idea that I had never seen discussed anywhere. I wasn't saying that you would be living out...
For handgun (and rifles like my 45-70), I check about one per 50. For precision rifle I throw half a grain light, put it on the scale, and trickle to the tenth.
I just got a Super Redhawk in 480 with rings and a buckmaster scope for $500 bucks.. I'm pushing a 400gr XTP mag at 1100 with slightly under a max load... pretty cheap and a whole lotta gun..

I would go with a marlin in the caliber of your choice, either .357 or 45LC depending on which you will have the most use for. I like 45, and hopefully will be getting a wheelgun/ rifle combo soon..
I would reholster, or put the gun within arms reach. You will hear the cops coming most likely, and at that point you can put your hands out or back away from the gun.
Not meaning to hijack the thread or anything, but what makes Lil Gun so different from H110 or another magnum pistol powder so as to cause cone problems?
