    New Ruger Super Redhawk!

Ruger documented what they did but didn’t explain what they found the problem to be. The front of my cylinder showed scrape marks from where it was rubbing across the forcing cone when the gun got warm. My layman’s diagnosis/guess was what you mentioned - heat was causing something to expand...

    New Ruger Super Redhawk!

FWIW, I purchased a new Super Redhawk in September of this year. When warm from shooting 10-12 rounds, the gun would bind. When cooled for a minute or so, you could fire it a few times. I sent it back to Ruger. They fixed it. (Outstanding service, by the way.) Thought I’d tell you what they did...

    Serial number fell off.

There was a two month lapse between the last time I fired it and discovering the missing SN. Searched the safe, work area, pistol cases etc. multiple times. Presuming it fell off at my outdoor range and I didn’t notice it while cleaning it. I think for my peace of mind (and continued freedom)...

    Serial number fell off.

I wish I had taken a picture before giving it to my dealer. I don’t how the tag was originally attached (aside from not very well). What remained was a thin rectangular tag-sized hole. I don’t know if it was molded into the plastic or what. I never paid any attention to it - until it left...

    Serial number fell off.

Two months ago, I went to sell my FNX-45. I’m the original owner. Deal was made but buyer pointed out the serial number was missing. So no sale. The metallic strip with the SN on the bottom of the frame had fallen off. And I don’t know where or when. And that’s apparently the only place FN...

    357 sig conversion barrel

I’ve done the 357/40 barrel swap with Sigs and Glocks. Never a problem. Flawless functioning in both. Point of impact may be different.

For those who have experience with 357 Sig......

Let me join with the others who are pro-357 Sig. I currently have 3 pistols in that caliber - a Sig P226, a Sig Nightmare 1911, and a Glock 35 that I converted to 357 with a KKM barrel. I shoot them for fun only. I think the recoil is similar to .40 S&W with more noise and muzzle blast -...

    Need a soft .38 load...

This is a load I got from somebody on this forum many years ago when my wife first became interested in shooting. Pistol used was a S&W 642. This is low recoil and shoots to POA out to at least 20 yards. Used it to get her used to shooting and used the same load to get my daughter-in-law...

    Reloading 357 sig

I've reloaded .357 Sig for many years. I use a Montana Gold 357 Sig 125 grain bullet. My load is 7.0 grains of Unique. OAL is 1.140. I've found this load to be accurate and mild (for a 357 Sig). The only thing different about loading 357 Sig is the need to lube before sizing. (And the...

    dewac

I have a 2000 edition of Loadbooks for .38 spl. In the Lyman bullet section, it lists Lyman #35863 which appears to be a 148 grain double ended wadcutter. Using 231 and shooting out of a 4 inch barrel they show a starting load of 2.5 at 600 fps and a max load of 4.1 at 957 fps. The RCBS...

    Reloading 380 ???

I have Hornady's info for their 90 grain XTP bullet from a Loadbook that was copyrighted in 2000. At that time, Hornady showed an OAL of .955 inches. They list Unique loads of from 3.8 grains (800 fps out of a PPK/S) to 4.8 grains max (1000 fps out of same gun).

    1911 hates me now

I had a Sig 1911 that normally functioned perfectly but it didn't like excessively light loads. It would fire, eject, and feed the lighter loads but the spent brass would usually hit you in the face. Problem didn't occur with zippier loads. I've never used the powder you're using, but it...
