I am tryin to remove a barrel from a 788 and the action keeps slipping in the wrench. I tried installing the 1/4-28 bolt into it and it just shears off a soft hardware bolt.(was careful not to tigten it into the tennon).

Take off barrels are cheap makes trying a new caliber easy on the pocket book. If it does the things you want you go get a premium if it doesn't youve got beer money left over
I bought a used k98 chambered in 8mm06AI and it feeds flawlessly. Im considering rebarreling it to 6mm ackley. I made 3 6mm rem (non ackley) dummy rounds and they fed ok not as smooth as the 806ai rounds. What else should i check or verify to be sure im not gonna be armpit deep in feeding...

I think those new lehigh defense solids could be very useful in a carbine they leave a wound channel similar to a HP and have no chance of failing to expand. Side note my local PD carries 65gr 40 cal in their service pistols.
