I have a krieger #5contour in 6/284 and think I would like to rechamber it to 240 weatherby. I own a lathe and want silly practise projects so thats why the expensive lateral move. I intend to put it on a savage action after I remove the 284 chamber length of 1.6"approx I still have just over 2" before barrel is under an inch in diameter.
Please before you call me stupid ,understand that is a condition only cured by asking questions. I have emailed krieger just no answer yet looking for discussion and reasoning. Thank you

First question is why. The 240 W has essentially the same performance as the 6-284. If you just want a 240 W, go for it. The dimensions you quote are the minimum I would be comfortable with. You can cheat a little on length by cutting the barrel off at the end of the shoulder, leaving the neck.
