Not exactly happy with the Giraud Power Trimmer

I have the Giraud Tri-Way trimmer (chucked in a drill) for 223/5.56. It works the same way as the "big" one, indexing off the shoulder. I don't sort by headstamp. After sizing, the shoulders are within a couple of thousandths...and get trimmed to within a couple of thousandths... of each other...

This could be the start of gun control......

And there is the fallacy to this argument. You understand that law abiding gun owners are not the problem, right? And criminals don't care about the laws already on the books, let alone any new ones, right? It is illegal, in this case, to bring a firearm to the school. It is illegal to falsely...

Lee Class Cast single stage press

Here's another option to throw in the mix. Titan Reloading has the Lee Classic cast at $107 + shipping. (Lowest I found after a quick search). Kentucky Gun Co. has a sale right now for the Hornady LnL classic kit for $169 + shipping. Press, powder measure, hand primer, electronic scale, 9th...

About Home Defense gun selection - why no shotshell revolvers

"...a teaspoon of shot isn't as good as a 147 gr. slug at 1,000 fps..." That 1/2 ounce teaspoon of shot weighs about 220 grains. And at 10 feet, even with a rifled barrel, it spreads about 8 inches, with a majority at 3-4 inches (from my testing with S&W Governor). 6 shots at 10 feet in 3 to 5...

About Home Defense gun selection - why no shotshell revolvers

It always amuses me the visceral reactions these 45 Colt/.410 revolvers bring out in people. "Abomination", "toy", "gimmick", "crap gun with a horrid trigger", "intentional maiming" (really?). I'm no ballistics expert, but I would think at 10 feet, which is the distance from my bedroom to the...

    Lc 223 crimp removal.

I'm not sure about the Lyman reamer - I use a Hornady - but in my experience, if the primer pocket is not crimped, the reamer just won't do anything. Try a few, and see if it cuts. As for the annealing, all cases are annealed. The commercial stuff is just polished before it's boxed up. A trip...

Xtreme 9mm 165gr RN - Anyone Loading These?

I won a box of 500 of these a couple of years ago on their Black Friday giveaway. They loaded and shot fine. They are very long, and the ones I got were sized at .357.. I probably won't order any more, but they made for a good, low recoil load.

    Dented 45 cases

How far is the ejected brass being thrown? I find that's a general indication of how hot a load is. If they're falling at your feet - pretty light; getting rocketed into orbit or across the range - might want to back off a bit.

    New one on the way

I just got one last week. While not un-controllable, it is a handful! My only problem was the edge of the slide lock dug into my thumb on recoil. I rounded it off with a file, and it's better. Definitely not an all day range gun for me, but that's not its purpose!

    9mm case buckle lee autodrum

When I switched to the Auto Drum from the Auto Disk, I had to back out the powder thru die. The drum's much heavier spring was over expanding and deforming cases (never could get it adjusted for 223, so I just use the Disk measure for that). It seems there is a fine line between full rotation of...

Forgive my ignorance, but what is "active junky"? Should have searched first, I found a link to their membership info.

    handgun round vs rifle round

My advice, as a Loadmaster owner, is to forget priming on the press. Yes, it can work, and some have zero problems from day one. Especially as a new reloader, taking the priming step out of the progressive equation lets you focus on the other stages. My method is to size and prime a BUNCH of...

"best" 308 dies to minimize runnout/maximize accuracy

In this video, he's sizing .243 cases, but the .308 works the same. Plus, a cool accent!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZEas38vkKg
