So with my manual having arrived, and checking and double checking measurements, i'm comfortable where I'm at with shooting these first reloads.
but a few things..
The manual suggested the starting load with the powder I'm using (h110) to start with 14 grs. However, auto disc won't do exactly...
so in reloading where accuracy in numbers is critical, I shouldn't be worried about the bullets increasing or decreasing OAL each time it goes into battery?
Do all semi auto's do this with reloads? I've experienced it with .45, and now with .30 carbine. It just doesn't feel right.
I'm with Officers Wife here...
When the brigade of rioters approach your property, how do you know they mean only to burn down your property, and leave you unharmed?
In that scenario, I'm meeting them about 100 yards out, and letting them know I would advise them to go elsewhere. If I feel that...
I'm using h110.
So about the crimp, .... If i don't crimp, then will the case mouth remain flaired? Isn't the the whole idea behind the crimp (that and to tighten around the bullet)?
I know my measurements are pretty good.. I just need to check the width at the crimp to make sure its not too tight. Thats my only real question at this point.
Thanks guys. I did check to see that all of the brass was under the max length.
So then all i need to do is make sure the tip of the brass at the bullet is not more then .001 less then the rest of the casing? (and the crimp level will determine this?)
So today I purchased everything necessary to reload .30 carbine (except a case trimmer) but I bought all new brass so shouldn't need it quite yet.
ANYWAYS...
I set up a dummy round with no primer or powder to make sure I have all of my dimensions correct here, I'll post some pics. (I read up...
Here is a test I did with a 30-06. Granted it wasn't the usgi ball round that people us, it was remington core lokt... the end of the barrel measure 1/8" to the brass
Please don't think I'm opposed to buying any type of gun oil. I was just thinking that if hoppes could do the job, then I'd use it since its what I have.
I will get some CLP or Remington oil tomorrow after work.
I did not have any serious malfunctions. There we no FTE's. I am thinking the recoil spring may be weakened though, because on numerous occasions, the rifle failed to fully put the next round into battery. I had to slam the slide forward when this happened. Can anyone offer insight about...
This is the ammo I was using. This was one of my few selections from the LGS. He had said it was Winchester. Can anyone here verify this? I just wanted to be sure it is NOT corrosive. (JUST TO BE SAFE)
