Barry The Bear asked:
Mr.Wright are those semi jacketed hollow points ? Would you mine telling me what gr they are as we'll as where to find them?

This is my pet load, 240 gr. Nosler JHP and 8.0 grs. HS-6 powder. I did formerly use the 240 gr. Remington SJHP but have not been able to obtain them for some time.

Bob Wright

Took a second look at the photo ~ they are Remington SJHP.

My "always" gun doesn't change: a Glock 42 .380 ACP in a modded Bladetech Klipt IWB holster in appendix carry. I changed the large, hard-to-conceal clip for one made of Kydex that I modeled after the ones on Galco IWB holsters. It hides very easily, even under a tucked-in t-shirt or in "office casual." The pistol is very light, fits my hand well, and is accurate and 100% reliable with Hornady "American Gunner" JHP ammo. I carry the spare mag in an Uncle Mike's size "1" pocket holster in my left rear pocket. If I carry a second spare mag for the Glock, it's in a small, padded nylon knife pouch on my belt behind my left hip.

The "backup" pistol is carried -- when possible -- behind my right hip and is generally a G26 in a Glock Sport/Combat (just $15!) holster or a Galco "Ultimate Second Amendment" IWB horsehide holster. Under a light jacket, however, I can carry a Ruger P97: a pistol that just feels "right" to me. The '97 goes in a Kholster IWB hybrid holster, or in a Simply Rugged Cuda OWB.

Whichever backup pistol goes with me, the spare mag goes in the knife pouch. The Glock 26 10-round fits, as does the Ruger 8-round mag (modded to 7-round with a Wilson Combat follower and spring). The '42 mag can be used in the same pouch, with a small ball of paper dropped into the pouch before inserting the 6-round .380 magazine.

BTW, BobWright: That is a classy pistol you've got! Love it! I have carried a Ruger New Vaquero in .45 Colt, but that's only when we have a real cold snap down here in South Texas. I use a Simply Rugged pancake holster. Your setup is much, much nicer. Whose work is the holster? It looks like a Threepersons design. El Paso Saddlery, maybe?

M&P Shield 9mm year round in a crossbreed mini-tuck. sometimes in the Fall/Winter I carry my EAA/Tanfoglio Witness Stock in 10mm. it's always on my hip while in the woods, & I am quite comfortable with either, so switching back & forth isn't a big issue. the Stock now wears a fiber optic front sight.

I've been carrying a Glock 21 SF appendix IWB, if I have to go smaller then a Glock 30 SF or 19/23/32 is okay.

Pocket pistols (smaller than a Glock 30 SF or 19) are not my preferred primary carry in any season.

That's one of the great things about these threads: we get to see how others approach the issue of concealed carry. For me, the limit of appendix carry is a Glock 26/27 size pistol. I'm fine walking around, attending meetings, etc., but the G26 in appendix is horrible when I have to spend any amount of time driving. On the other hand, the '42 can be there for all of my waking hours, regardless of activity. I could have gone with a Glock 43, but it's heavier and a bit larger. If I was going to carry a G43, I'd just carry a G26 instead. I can't imagine trying to conceal a Glock 21 and to go through a day with it in appendix. CDW4ME, I'm impressed! What holster do you use?

I've been concealed carrying for over 20 years. When I first started I mostly carried a 38 snub with Tyler T-Grip and Brahimi Hip Grip, later upgraded to a Glock 27. The 27 was my main appendix IWB carry for years, I did not think I could carry a Glock 23 size pistol appendix IWB. If I carried strong side IWB then I would go for the bigger 23. Earlier this year I decided to try the 23/32/19 (my opinion on which is the "best" varies) appendix IWB; I carried those for months and became comfortable with it. I have a 30 SF, but prefer the longer grip of the 19/23/32 which accommodates my pinky without a magazine base extension. Desiring not to have to make a compromise between capacity and caliber, I bought the 21 SF; I figured I would carry it sometimes strong side IWB. Not having a holster for the 21, I decided to try it in the 30 SF holster appendix IWB expecting it to be very uncomfortable. I was amazed to discover that the 21 SF was just as comfortable appendix IWB as the 19/23/32 and I prefer its larger grip.

I'm using a Fist kydex clip-on holster; I use this type holster for all appendix IWB carry. It is very thin kydex, if I use a holster designed for a shorter pistol of the same size, Glock 26 holster but actually use a Glock 19, then the slide sticks out for a minimalist holster, which I prefer.
I can conceal the 21 with a sweatshirt (pocket is perfect to negate any printing from the grip) or loose untucked shirt, plaid or pattern is good to break any impression the grip might make.
I prefer appendix IWB over strong side IWB for concealment, speed, and surprisingly comfort.

I just started carrying recently. I carry a 9mm M&P Shield IWB with an Alien Gear holster. Now that it is jacket weather I often carry the same gun OWB in a Bianchi leather holster. Very comfortable either way.
