The wife and I adopted these beautiful little ladies and we are working through our firsts. Today was the day in which we have finally shown consistent maturity, attention, and understanding to go to the range. It’s what I wanted for my first official father’s day, so we celebrated a day early. We have some shadow boxes to put together now, first target, first case, pictures... I’m a proud papa. I got to share this with my dad as well and we both teared up a bit.

Happy father’s day y’all!!!

Rifle, armscor m14y single loaded through the detachable mag.

Ammo, Aguila Super Colibri

Kids, all smiles and begging for more.

Congrats on bringing them up right. I can tell by the smiles on their faces that you're a great Dad! The best Fathers Day gift is spending time with your kids. My son is a month away from 17, he's been shooting occasionally for only 3 years. I'm blessed that he still wants to hang with Dad sometimes, although such occurrences are rare these days. We spent today at the range, our first range trip together in almost a year. Such moments are precious.

Happy Fathers Day to all!

Wow, check out those smiles! Nice job, Dad!

That was all I wanted for Fathers Day too. Got to put a couple hundred downrange with my girls this morning. Sighted in a couple new rifles.
Its nice that my oldest is 21 now and can keep an eye on her sister while I shoot a bit, safety first.
They are both pretty competitive, kept getting tie scores on .22 Battleship. The youngest beat us both out by a hair in the single shot Zombie challenge.
All rimfires and my .410 Enfield. Good times!:D

Great day! Happy father's day.

I won't get to the range this weekend but my wife did let me pick up a stripped lower today for the low, low, cost of finally weedwacking our ditch (or jungle is probably a more apt description).

Tomorrow we will start turning the truckload of wood I bought into a swing set/playhouse for my 2 year old, he's gonna go crazy once it's done.

Having fun is the most important. I suggest a bipod or a bag rest and shooting prone to start. It's enough to focus on trigger control, breath control, and sight alignment without having to hold a heavy steel and wood rifle. Prone also allows them some independence while still maintaining some practical limitations on the muzzle direction. They'll also do better with a shorter length of pull, which can be accomplished by sawing off the buttstock and reattaching the recoil pad, or with a shorter or adjustable stock.

Hearing protection is good, but am I the only one who finds muffs hit the stock and interfere with the cheek-weld? I like foam plugs better when shooting a rifle. I was concerned the plugs fit correctly though because if they don't, they lose a lot of their attenuation. I just bought some slim-fit plugs I hope will work better.

The swing set was last year for me. I hope you don’t go as ridiculous as I did. 16ft treated pine 4x6 crossbeams are heavy. And 24” hickory trees are hard to auger through to attach the other end... So well done pops. Have fun, and be safe. I promise that the last thing a little one wants for father’s day is a hurt daddy.

......blessed. Congratulations for your good fortune. Well done.

My daughter came to me when she was 4, almost 5. The 5 yrs I missed out on are irrelevant to the 25 yr Ive been blessed to have her.

I always thought that I needed to earn it everyday. While I can't say I did every single day... there is no asterisk in our daughter daddy bond.

Today is my 2nd Father's day as a Papa.

What a fantastic post, set of photos and story. Many congratulations - on multiple levels.

Enjoy the journey!
