I was talking to a Dillon rep yesterday.I made a statement about up-grading to a 650. He suggested to wait, they were going to replace the 650 with the 750. He said they had one set-up in the show room and during his lunch break he was going to play with it

I just confirmed with Dillon via chat at their website. Effective 8-1.

That's all I know.

What about priming? A rumor going around says they improved that.
The Dillon guy I talked to said there are many improvements from 650 to 750 and gave me the definites I posted above.

I am sure the details of the improvements will come out as we approach the release date.

GW Staar, The rep I was talking to said they did change the priming system. He made a statement they had several people have primer detonations with the current system. His words were "it went BANG-BANG- BANG !!!!!

What ?? Problems with a Dillon ?

Say it ain't so ! I thought it was the be-all and end-all of presses !

Like Glock perfection, right? ;)

Back when I was first in the market for a progressive.....the Dillon 650 and the RCBS Pro 2000 were the finalists for my needs. After trying a friend's 650, I became a very happy Pro 2000 user. If the 750 were out then, it mighta turned out different, because the Pro2K wasn't perfect either......but it was cheaper and easier to load 3 to 5 calibers on, each week. using my one and only progressive.

If I had only needed to load one pistol caliber for competition, the 650 would have won. It has a wonderful case feeder for mass producing one caliber. Now with my Pro Chucker 7, I do have feeders.....but not electric collators. For me my tube feeders are perfect.....but jmorris is not impressed. In his view a feeder without a electric collator is worthless. ;) That's okay....for him they are.

I hate complicated caliber changes. With the medium batches of different calibers I like to load, I find tube loaders faster to change and just as fast to process. Perfect for lazy people like me.....

I will be interested to see where big blue improved "Dillon perfection"....me painted blue ..... who knows!?!

Oh, for some folks feeders without collators seem to be fine. To me it just seems like something someone with a .gov email address came up with. Pick up a bullet by hand and flip it base down and drop it into a hole, so some extra device can then place it into a hole...

27 years is a long time for any single product to last, especially these days. The fact that the 650 has been around longer than some of its users is a testament to its design, many have come and gone in the interim. Lots don’t make it more than a few years, the only ones I can think of that are that old or older and are fully warranted and still supported with free parts are my Dillon’s.

Can a better machine be built? Certainly, that obvious. Someone has to before others ditch the current best though. You can obsolete machines you have made in the past and no longer support them like Hornady, RCBS have though and expedite the process.

Spend some time on Brian Enos forum and you will see all kinds of issues with Dillon presses. But we manage to address them to resolution quickly (Like how we do here on THR ... H&R category probably has the fastest problem to resolution time compared to many other forums :D).

In comparison, my Lee Auto Breech Lock Pro has been boringly trouble-free ... dang John Lee, you took my tinkering fun away! :fire:

I want bullet seating to go on in the front so I can see the powder in each case.

That would be nice. Here's the picture going around.....maybe a Dillon user can tell more. Looks a lot like a 650 to me.....with a taller throat, a better "linear" priming system, and smoother indexing, Dillon says.
Case feed is still on the handle side......so feeding 1 at a time isn't practical. Save up for the collator or convert to a longer feeder tube.

Actually, below is a 650 picture.......same one?......sneaky dastards. ;)
<correction> No, not so dastardly.....powder level is different....and look closer. They must have a favorite camera angle....:)
