OK I buy that originally. Seems to be the consensus
But the same bullets are used in 10mm so the case is longer, therefore the magazines are bigger in the 10mm autos,??
Not a big issue just mind wandering.
Not sure, but I would guess that the reason is to allow all .40 bullets to be used in 10MM and vice versa.

I use RN's for the range, they feed better in all my guns. HP's in the carry guns.
To make it harder for , non-contributing (meaningful posts, not money) members from burning out the vendor who is offering the discount
