So I recently got a heck of a deal on a used Taurus 709 Slim. The original owner said it was his old carry gun and had shot about 800 rounds through trouble free. He was just looking for cash for another gun and after some haggling I got it for a whopping $100! I finally got to take it to the range today and this is what my $100 gun shot like at 8 yards.

Pretty excellent for the price! I'm sure with more practice I will tighten it up even more.
I love the ergos and it fits my hand well. It's a very slim 7+1 single stack. Everything fits nice and tight and recoil is very manageable. Can fit in a pocket, going to get a mag with flush base plate to make more pocketable. A lot of people bash the trigger, but it's very useable. Most people don't understand its actually a SA to DA with the double strike capability. When a round is chambered it's in about a 4 lbs SA which is why there is an external safety and some "take-up". The DA only comes in to play if the round had a bad primer and doesn't ignite.
All in all I feel I got a major win on this one and have a very cheap new reliable carry that shoots as well as anything 4-5 times what I paid for it.

Congrats OP... I'm thinking about picking up one of those G2Cs for $150 after rebate... It's crazy that these guns are selling for around the same price as a set of night sights.

I have owned a 709 slim for over 5 years. I picked it up real cheap from a buddy that needed money and I figured it might make a great truck gun and if it got stolen I'd not lose much. I cannot make it jam. I have fed it a mixture of every ammo I can and some of it had green corrosion on the cases it was so old. Fed it aluminum cases, steel cases and everything in-between and it just keeps shooting! Fairly accurate too as you have pointed out. I took it out and compared it to my step sons Shield and he wanted to swap. The Taurus actually shot a little more accurate with the ammo we had. I'm a revolver guy and don't care much for semis, but the 709 Slim has really impressed me

I now have 3 Taurus pistols. The PT92C I originally bought for myself and now a G2 and a PT809 that I just inherited.

Nice to see Taurus turning things around. Seem to have done a complete 180 from around 8 years ago. Now if they work on their warranty turnaround times, they'll be hard to beat. I never had to send any of mine back though, so I couldn't tell you whether or not it is still an issue or not.

My understanding is the warranty issue has improved. That is what the temporary cutting of their warranty on newly introduced pistols to 1 year was about. After they got it under control they went back to lifetime.

I know the local dealer had the G2S for $160 earlier this month but he was sold out by this weekend. The G2 line has really been a pretty good pistol. The only real issue I've seen is with people forcing the trigger with the blade safety not properly engaged which can break the safety. There are tutorials online for fixing it if you have trouble properly engaging it.

Not me personally but $100 for Coca Cola Stock in 1933. Roughly $50 Mill today.

Just got a Black Friday special; Springfield XD 9mm, laser, holster, case, clip holder, one 7 round mag, four 9 round mags;

$399 plus tax

I sold mine to fund another gun purchase, but I never had any complaints about it.
It was very reliable and had nice adjustable sights.
They're a good gun for the price, no doubt about it.
